How does it compare to regular old, non-StarWars/Marvel action movies?
I honestly have no idea how bad they'd have to do to really alter plans.

It'll depend on if it can recover from this weekend. That's a very big "if." Let's assume it can get to 250 domestically, and about the same internationally, that gives it a final number of 500 mil WW. IMO, that's a disaster for a Star wars film. That would be less than what Ant Man made.

Solo will probably still have the #6 Memorial Day weekend of all time, despite opening with Infinity War and Deadpool 2 for competition.

Yeah, you got me. I'm pissed it's going to make less than $100 million in its opening three days when it has a $250 million dollar budget and another few hundred million on marketing. Absolutely devastated.

His point is that if it bombs hard enough then maybe they will make a quality Star Wars movie because they will be forced to. And he’s right.

First, Solo is a quality Star Wars movie. It's easily in the top half of all of the films.
Also, it's already on track to not "bomb," considering Disney is well aware that they fricked up the production of this film. There's no way in hell they thought they were going to make $250 million this weekend against Infinity War and Deadpool 2.

Look, I thought Solo was enjoyable. But quality isn’t a word I’d associate it with. They had to reshoot how much of the movie? And they still ended up with just an “ok” product that’s very forgettable.
