Why does Mobile, AL always promote that “We live on the beach”

I watch the local news in Mobile and all of the commercials and tv stations always promote how Mobile is located on the beach.
Mobile is such a shithole place. They want to be a pretend big city and try to attract people by saying that Mobile is on the beach

From mobile and I definitely don’t want to move back but it’s not a bad spot. Grew up on the water went fishing every afternoon and duck hunting in the mornings. All I had to do was lower the boat out the lift and take off.

Don’t stress over it man. They invented Mardi Gras too.

Don’t forget....Mardi Gras originated there too.
Mobile: “the city people drive through to get to Florida and New Orleans”

You realize the Mobile TV market includes the AL gulf coast and Pensacola/Ft. Walton?

I mean it offers a lot more than most cities/metros that are smaller than 500,000. Lot of growth there too so something is working.

Downtown Mobile to Dauphin Island is maybe 30 min.

Via ferry, and that’s if you catch it exactly when you pull up.
Minimum 45 minute drive to make it to any beach in Alabama if driving

There’s no ferry between downtown and DI

It’s not a shithole but folks who live there think they’re superior to Nola when reality they are just New Orleans little sister.

You drive slow. Used to make it to the DI marina from midtown in 30 min.

Are you there for work or just randomly watch various local news streams?

Who runs that shithole? A two decade traffic jam. Four lanes that funnel into two.

My uncle Bill has lived in Mobile for 60 years. He was an engineer for WKRG-TV channel 5 for 45 years. Mobile isn't a bad place to live if you can stand thunderstorms everyday from May through early September.

If all the Louisiana people would find their own beach and quit slamming on their brakes in the tunnel there would never be traffic. Locals fly through there all day going 75 and there is never traffic

I’ve driven through Alabama 50+ times. Never stayed in mobile. Not proud to say I have stopped in Birmingham.

Trust me when I say I would never hit the brakes in Alabama if I wasn't forced to do so.

“al_cajun” Lmmfao...That name is as fake as your “Mardi Gras” and your wannabe Florida beaches. Mobile is a great place to stop and take a shite on the way to Pensacola though

In fairness, Mobile is actually building another bridge. While BR just keeps studying it.
