Would a 20 year old Billy Cannon be the starting RB for the 2018 LSU Tigers? I've only seen a couple of the famous runs so I don't know too much about him as far as speed, power, and agility go.

Heard on the radio yesterday that he ran a 9.4 100m. That's what his old teammate said.. but I'm pretty sure that's near the world record.

Supposedly they had some hot shot track star from Kansas come to campus when Cannon was a freshman and they raced and BC beat him by about a yard.

I'm going to say no. The pool of athletes in the 50's is nowhere near what it is in modern day football.

He could have run in Olympics but embarked on pro career to earn money to support 4 kids

If he would start in today's game then he truly must have been a man against boys in that era.

Considering it was the 50s, it was probably a 100 yard dash he was doing a 9.4 in. Even conservatively I’d bet he would still be under 10.5 in a 100 meter

It was the 100 YARD dash and I think his time was like 9.1 or 9.2. I am probably wrong because I have that time on my mind for some reason.

That definitely makes more sense. Dude was fast but I don't think he was Usain Bolt fast

I think the Advocate's article said sub-10 second 100 yard dash. So basically what these guys said.

He was a world class athlete. He would absolutely start in some capacity for any team in the country in 2018.

ETA:

I think his 9.4 100 yard dash is like a 10.28 100m equivalent. But the crazier part is that he was the best sprinter, then walked over out of breath at the track meets and shot put over 54 feet.

All of this without the state of the art training that athletes today receive. No telling what he would've been capable of if he was training from an early age like kids today and had nutritionists and trainers in college.

That would be the World Record. Bolt's record is 9.58.

Cannon ran a 9.4 second 100 yd dash, which would translate to approximately 10.34 second 100 meter. Factor in about +.25 seconds for hand timing, he could have possibly ran about a sub 4.3-40. Easily would be sub 4.5.

My pop tells the story of a dads vs. sons baseball game. A hit to the outfield was fielded by Billy after he fell down, got back up and still beat my dad to the ball. I guess they were early 40's in age.

Ok. I see his bio says 9.5. Don't know where I got 9.1 or.2. Still fast.
