Several state championships this year. Central for baseball, Zachary for football and Walker for basketball. Then you have scotlandvile in select for basketball and track.
Pretty good resume, name me some other districts that competitive

Didn't realize that. You just boosted my claim! Proud of our area boys and girls

Zachary and Central are ISDs right?

Basically yes. The kids that go there live in district. Not saying there isn't recruiting going on but most are living there. No bussing

Sorry I wasn't trying to insinuate that at all. I was just asking because it's been proven to be a much better system than what we have for the rest of Louisiana.

The old District 2-4A/5A had someone in the finals 28 of 30 years I believe. Dominated the highest classification for a long time.
Neville
Ruston
West Monroe
Ouachita
Bastrop

I understand. Hard these days with all the "moves". I know it's basically local kids that grew up together

Not saying it's greatest of all time at all. Just very impressive that suburban baton rouge teams did so well this year

5-4A back in the mid-90's used to be the best bc it had abbeville in it

I personally believe it comes back to the community. For instance, Walker highs basketball team grew up together from a young age. Black, white or whatever, they were friends. The parents are also friends, they will jump a kids arse if they are messing up. Takes a village to raise a kid

6-5A in 2014. Ponchatoula won a state title in girls’ basketball, never trailed in football until they played Acadiana, and would’ve won State had Campbell not gotten hurt.

Definitely the new dominant class in 5-A. Id say the old 2-5A in North Louisiana as a collective whole was superiorly better, but in terms of all the sports put together this district has become the top of the line in the state.
Future seems to be bright down there. I hear Zachary may field the best team in 5-A again next season. What would that be? 3 out of 4 years?

I'd rank them
4-5A (North BR, Livingston) Deep in all sports and swept football, basketball, and baseball for non select as well as select basketball
3-5A (Lafayette, Lake Charles) always competitive and deep
6-5A (Northshore) usually has a state contender in every sport
5-5A (South BR, Ascension) Catholic + Ascension schools are formidable
9-5A (NOLA Catholic League) Curtis picked the right time to join
2-5A (Monroe, Alexandria) District has gone downhill recently. Needs WM to be really good to compare to everyone else
1-5A (Shreveport) if Evangel isn't winning football, this district is mediocre
7-5A (River Parishes, Bayou) had Hahnville football run and girls softball, but that was it
8-5A (Jefferson) only real highlight was LW in basketball

Unrelated question: other than Ellender in basketball, when is the last time a public school in Houma was relevant in anything?

Second fastest 400 meter runner in the nation I believe and football standout Sean Burrell? Not sure of his name.
How in the hell did Zachary become such an athletic powerhouse so quickly? They could have 3 ships in football in 3 years this year. And that is a realistic possibility.
