I don't understand any of this. If one of those congressmen and women/senators, senatorettes had their loved one kidnapped and bound for certain death, or if it could stop a terrorist from setting off a nucular bomb, and they thought they might be able to extract critical information thru coercion to prevent it from happening, they would/should want to LIGHT THEM ON FIRE if necessary.
So the CIA simulated drowning on a few enemies of the state. They should be giving this woman a medal, a standing ovation. All this fake concern and political preening, virtue signaling, is an insult to the intelligence.
