The midweek guy is going to be a Freshman, not a Junior imo. I'm also not trying to put that much pressure on Eric Walker coming back.

If you don't think Smith starts SS or 3B next season you've lost your mind, assuming he's healthy of course

smith will start at either 3B or SS.

Also some of the freshman pitchers we have coming in will start on the weekend and play a big role out of the bullpen.

there's nothing structurally wrong with his back. It just needs rest. So in 9 months he will be ready

I think gilbert would factor in somehow, he should fix his problems by next season

C-Hunter Feducccia

I haven't read up on our recruiting class yet, but if someone makes it to campus that can play the position defensively they will likely be our starter (barring massive improvement from Feduccia over the summer/fall).

Idk. I don’t like to bash players, but I’m not high on Gilbert. Nothing against the kid. I just think he pitched beyond his talents in Omaha last year. But I like when LSU players give me a big ole shite sandwich to eat. Hope he lights em up.

No idea who they will lose from draft

DH Bryce Jordan
C Feduccia - incoming fr is highly regarded (not sure draft status) and another juco c will push him

1B Slaughter (another juco coming in Saul Garza), Bryce Jordan could contend as well, Slaughter is draft eligible as a soph - they like drafting on potential if the player indicates they will sign, Slaughter could say I'll sign in the 25th round)

2B Broussard

SS Hughes (he's proven he can handle the position defensively and the experience he is getting this season and thru summer ball will make him better at the plate next year)

3B Smith (will get opportunity at SS as well if Hughes struggles again with bat)

LF Cabrera

CF newcomer, who knows, maybe Duplantis passes up draft and returns for sr year, I think Watson is gone

RF Webre

Weekend - Hilliard, Walker, Labas (if velocity returns) - juco pitcher and who knows who will emerge as fr - Storz if healthy will have quality stuff

Bullpen - Beck, Fontenot, Bush (draft eligible, might be signable), Peterson, Kodros - newcomers

Saul Garza if not drafted will probably slide to 1B.

Any of the Turang, Willis, Cabell trio who don't sign will start as freshman.

Josh Smith will start somewhere, not sure why he's listed behind Hughes and Bianco.

LSU is bringing in a ton of power arms should they make it to campus. The pitching rotation and depth will be as deep as we've seen under an Alan Dunn coached team.

Only thing that worries me is if the trio all sign and LSU is left scrambling for a couple of JUCO's.

Not listed behind I don't know the severity of his injury, Lochridge wasn't able to bounce back for some time.

I understand your thinking but Lochridge had structural damage, Smith does not.

Assuming things stay the same, I don't see Smith sitting out an entire year.

Garza (JUCO) has a ton of power.

Willis and Cabell both have a ton of power. Hopefully LSU can hold on to at least one of the two mentioned.

I'm not so certain Feduccia will be back. He's a junior and loses all leverage if he returns. He certainly has some deficiencies but I still could see him getting drafted high enough to where returning would be a mistake on his part unless he just loves playing college baseball that much.

I also think there's a situation where Hess returns. He's only a sophomore, so he can return and still have leverage next year. I believe he'll be a top 5-10 round pick, but if I'm him, my asking price is high. He's in a really strong spot for negotiations. I think he mad a very good transition to a Friday night starting role, but I also think he has room for improvement to be drafted in the first 2 rounds.

The biggest problem with your list is no Josh Smith in the starting lineup. There is no scenario where Hughes is starting over a healthy Smith.

Gilbert was probably pitching over his head in Omaha, but he's also regressed quite a bit from what he did last year throughout the season. He has a low ceiling but I still think he can be a very valuable middle relief college pitcher for us who can potentially throw significant innings in the postseason
