You are aware that Hussein and the Ayatollahs in Iran came to power about the same time, and we didn’t take Saddam out until 2003 or so correct?
And Iran's influence in the Middle East as well as financial support of various groups exponentially increased once Hussein was removed.

So the non ignorant faction position is that Iran wasn’t really a player in the terror sponsor world until after 2003. Gotcha. Hezbollah dates to 1985, and Islamic Jihad to 1987. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Your reading comprehension is lacking. Asserting that Iran influence in the region and its financing of terror groups increased exponentially after 2002 is not the same thing as saying they were non-existant prior to 2002.
But don't take my word for it:

“Iran's rise was not inevitable but it was undeniably well positioned to take advantage of the turmoil in Iraq and Syria. Iran's asymmetric strategies are backed by competence and capability developed over four decades.”
This, he said, gave Iran “a considerable head start over its regional competitors” in taking advantage of the chaos that ensued in the wake of Saddam’s fall.

Well, that’s a good thing because Iran was the leading exporter of terrorism long before Saddam was taken out in Iraq. Iranian hegemony in the ME was being discussed as far back as GW1, so whether Iran increased exponentially it’s influence and financing after Saddam was removed is a moot point, because it’s influence and financing of terror was already tremendous.

Do you believe that there is a point that would be cutting it too much?
I think there are ways to cut it and maintain our strength. I don’t think maintaining strength was even on his radar. I think he would have gut the military which is a bad thing.

If RP would have stopped every speech after 15 minutes and not gone full retard the last 10, he would have won the primary.

Saudi Arabia laughs at this proposition. Iran may be the leading supporter of terrorism who is not a US ally.

Hardly. As the articles I linked point out, Saddam was a counterbalance to Iranian interest in the region and kept Iran in check. Once we removed that check, it allowed Iran to wield much greater influence. The Bush Doctrine has been a colossal failure in nearly every regard and our foreign policy in the Middle East since 1953 has caused more problems than we've solved.

Look who is being ignorant now.

Right, so their power and influence, and support of world wide terrorism, upon the Ayatollahs taking over, is pretty much in your face.

See above. Saddam wasn't a counterbalance to jack shite. By your own admission, Iran is the most important state in the region, and became the Godfather fomenting and exporting terrorism for 24 years, with Saddam riding high in Iraq.

They were already established as the mac daddy. Did their influence increase? Sure. But they were already running shite. Why is this so hard for you?

Won't dispute that, but I will say that I believe that our oil based economy requires us to maintain a presence in the ME, even if it is at the cost of lives. The pussified way we go about that now, dishonors the lives and sacrifice of our citizens and soldiers. As I said before, my method would be much more brutal, indiscriminant, and effective. You can add permanent to that.

One of the only people I have ever looked back on in history, and thought that guy should have been president as I think he would have fixed things then.
That man was Pat Buchanan.
As far as Ron Paul goes, while I like some of what he says, the 9-11 truther tin foil hat stuff gets a little crazy. Also, as a libertarian, there's no market for the open borders baggage that ideology carries.

Well this reply certainly aged well.

No chance at all. Paul would have been torn into so many pieces by both sides he wouldn't have been able to handle the onslaught the way that Trump has.

absolute fricking stupidity right there
for starters, Osama Bin Laden was a creation of the fricking CIA, and Bill Clinton and Tony Blair pumped bin Laden up during Kosovo/Serbia with the KLA
"Assad gassing his people" - please - such ridiculous shite
you swallow enough hooks, you get dangled like a puppet
