Kayak Recommendation

Looking for Kayak Recommendations. Never owned one, but have a camp on Grand Isle and would like to have one to fish the rocks out front on the calm days. I am 6-3", 260, so looking for something stable. Friends have said to get pedal power, so that you don't have to paddle when trying to fish. Prefer to get something used as it won't get used that often. What say the Board?

Budget will dictate.
If the budget is no concern, Hobie PA14

Get a golf cart.
But pedal is 100 times more fishable than a paddle in my experience.

Butget is under $2,000. Have a golf cart now, but would like more flexibility.

I would absolutely go with a pedal kayak. You can find used Hobies regularly. The Pro Anglers are the most stable yak you will find. There was a 2014 Pro Angler 14 for sale on Facebook last week for $2,000.
ETA: with a $2,000 budget you can also find some nice Outbacks. Just make sure they are a 2014 model or newer so you get the Vantage seat.

You may be able to find a used Slayer Propel for under $2k. Or maybe a Hobie Compass.
I rarely see Pro Angler Hobies for under $2k, but you might get lucky.

Here we go
I’m a Native guy myself. But I don’t deny the Hobie PA is a comfortable boat to fish out of. It’s just not ideal for me.

Look into a used PA12, outback, or Compass.

Sure the reverse is better in the Native, but the Mirage Drive is better at everything else.

Well, I’m still paddling. Either the Propel or the Mirage drive would be an upgrade for me. But I’ve always said that if my Slayer 14.5 had the Propel, it would be my ideal kayak. I love that kayak.

I am glad I have both. Having the propel would have sucked in the last swamp I went into. I'd still like to sell my Slayer and get another propel.

Go demo. Plenty peddle yaks now. All have pros and cons. Masseys can accommodate

Kajun k12 with a trolling motor is even better then a pedal kayak.
