There's a village in Sicily that will give you a house for like a $1 if you promise to fix it up and move there.

Few hundred people. About 100-200 are expats - many with no doubt sketchy pasts. No other semblance of civilization for miles and miles.

Don't get me wrong. Awesome place to visit. I'd be going nuts, though, after about a month of retiring to live there.
