What a fool.... No one is bitching about their job, one is educating you on how unfair the pay scale is in Louisiana. Yet you believe because you go to a community college and the military is paying for it you have an understanding.

Congrats I guess.... Nothing wrong with that route as I served for 6 years in the Army. Doesn't make you right or smart though.

I'm not here to fight. Like I said I respect teachers for what they do.

But, everyone knows it isn't a glamorous paycheck.

Thank you for your service.

Wasn't here to be better, just explaining something that most don't know.

Other than that I get nothing else other than plenty of time off. I can say when I started I spent 50 hours a week if you count what I was actually at school + lesson planning + grading to now 60+ hours because many Parishes are asking more from teachers without any compensation

imagine getting into a profession that does not have a real "raise" but only 100 bucks

My summer this year I'm teaching summer school and working lawncare, not to mention the three weeks of training I need to attend

I can not make a multiple choice test and grade that way. Everything I do is a writing assignment and when I have 80+ writing assignments to grade a week it will take me awhile to accurately grade them

yeah totally, skip the 4+ years you put into school not counting your career and leave your career where you are making 40+k to move to another profession, sounds easy right?

I work 10 months of the year with a 2-week summer training, so I get a 1 month, 2-week vacation during the year. I mean I get 10 days off sick, however, I do not get vacation time + sick days that roll over like many jobs.

A teaching certificate is more than a piece of paper especially as they ask teachers to do more each year.

What vacation?

What about Social Security where I get none

How is it unfair? Are you forced to work for a certain employer? Were you led to believe at any point that you would be earning more?

You chose a career that the market doesn’t put a high value on. Sorry.
