Overall, this was a very spring-gamey spring game. Some things to like. Some things to be concerned about. Not really an abundance of either. So in the end, much like I said in the first place, a nice blank canvas for most fans to project their issues, anger, optimism, what have you.

Foster Moreau definitely had a not-so-happy voicemail from his momma when she saw him flash the double-birds pre-game.

The design of the offense was, mostly, what I expected to see. Pro-style in terms of formations, but with an emphasis on spreading the field. Some RPOs and tempo mixed in. A couple things stood out in terms of the schematics:

Ensminger moved the tight ends around a lot — in line, flexed on the wing, in the slot and split out wide. It’s a useful tactic to both create physical mismatches, and also force the defense to expose itself a little bit in terms of how it reacts to the formation.

As expected, there’s a big emphasis on wide/tight zone runs with bootlegs off that action, and creating some quick, easy throws on first down

First play of the game was a basic inside zone/stick RPO — Justin McMillan missed the pass to Jonathan Giles — but both the purple and white teams came back to it a few times with all three quarterbacks.

Yes, it’s true that McMillan’s units had the best success early on, but again...spring game.

Speaking of pressure, with K’Lavon Chaisson had a field day with some of the backup tackles in the game. And even with Badara Traore at times. Imagine he’ll move to right tackle when Saahdiq Charles comes back from injury.

As expected, LSU’s front seven looks very impressive — two players that stood out in small doses Saturday included Glenn Logan at nose tackle and Neil Farrell at defensive end. Both did a nice job of stacking and shedding blockers in the hole. Tyler Shelvin also showed impressive burst in a few snaps, but until his conditioning improves those snaps will be few and far between when Ed Alexander returns.

2 out of 3 of the QBs are left handed

Wouldn't you want the best OT defending the blind side?

I think the main concern is the QB position. It will be interesting to see what happens

Again, defense has to win ballgames. How good would it be if LSU had an offense line?

It's all a balancing act. Even the best of offensive lines won't give you 5 seconds to throw the ball. Even the best defenses will wear down if the offense can't stay on the field.

The defense is going to be stellar AF. No one is debating that. The problem, again, is on offense. This offense is going to be one dimensional no matter how you look at it. After CEH (who is mediocre at best) there is nobody in the backfield and the QBs look like shite but we have some GREAT WRs. SEC defenses will eat this offense alive if there aren't some drastic improvements over the summer.

I really saw mcvays offense out there. I couldn’t tell if it was the Tigers or the Rams. You were right on there REE

The bottom line is offense will most likely struggle as usual and defense will give us the best chance to win but they will get wore down from being on the field too much. I seriously doubt the offense will magically improve with a new OC, new RB, and an inexperienced QB.

Not surprising at all coming from you.

Did you really think I wrote the article that I linked?

The article included all of the teams that LSU visited with, not just the Rams.

Are you afraid to voice your actual opinion? Instead of posting some random article that told me nothing.

try getting Ree to give you what W/L record he would consider a failure for the upcoming year. He dances around the quesiton like a cat on a hot tin roof.

The QB's passed for a combined 534 yards and you can compare to Auburn where they had 90 Passing Yards. If we get anywhere near that kind of Offense combined with the Defense LSU will beat anyone.

QB is definitely still the big issue. RB is much less of a concern, though far from Fournette backed by Guice. We've got some (albeit young) talent and depth there. And the OL is a question in that we've got the pieces...so long as they mesh by fall.

Either that or he is smart enough to realize the season is months away. There may be injuries, players leave, Kristian Fulton may be ruled eligible, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for your interest in what I think may happen though. Very much appreciated !!!!
