Medical MJ in Louisiana

So what is exactly going on in BR? I've heard rumblings of certain diseases getting clearance for prescriptions.
Granted this is only in oil/pill form I feel it can help a lot of people who have to rely on dangerous drugs.
I have Crohn's Disease but haven't got to a point of extreme severity yet. One day down the road it will be here though and I refuse to take the steroids and immunosuppresive drugs.
I also wonder if employers will be prohibited from terminating off-duty users who have a prescription.

I have a very close relative with a stomach condition that was prescribed Medical MJ amoung other things as well as stomach pacemaker. So it is being prescribed. It was a long shot with the MJ so she never got a refill.

I don’t think MJ is gonna do anything for Crohn’s other than maybe increase your appetite and maybe decrease some pain and nausea during severe flare ups.
It’s not gonna do much for an autoimmune disease.

Except for help manage symptoms.

*without the added danger of addiction, a la opiates.

Here in Texas, which is otherwise a glorious place, the “medical MJ” Law is a cruel joke and it’ll help almost nobody. I figure Louisiana would be similar. Regulated to the point of uselessness. Then politicians will say “See? We were nice enough to allow patients to use this evil plant, and no one got healed. So we were right, weed is useless and should stay illegal.”

The state's first dispensary is opening on Summa in Baton Rouge. LSU's grow house will be off Highland near I-10.
No bullshite.

That was my point.
The OP said he wasn’t taking steroids or other immunosuppressive drugs waiting on medical MJ.
That led me to believe that he thought medical MJ would treat Crohn’s, which it won’t. It might manage some flare up symptoms which is great but that’s not what he said he was hoping for out of it. He spoke of it as a treatment.

Help manage symptoms and side effects of the primary medications.
During flares it's brutal. Abdominal pain, inflammation throughout the body, fever, no appetite... just to name a few.
I think it's an alternative option people should have the right to explore. Keep in mind this is only for THC in oil and pill form. We aren't using our diseases/disorders/cancers as an excuse to pass the blunt or bong.

Well Crohn's appears to not really have a cure, and treatments also seem to be hit or miss on an individual basis. So basically MMJ is as more or less treatment just like other therapies, with MMJ having fewer side effects and likely safer long-term.

Prescriptions won’t matter. Employers will/can say MJ users are violating federal law. I have worked at various nuclear plants as a contractor. Been told quite a few times that a MJ script is not acceptable if you have THC in your system.

Yeah because that would be so much worse

I don't really care. Just using this as a defense against the old schoolers.

It's a decent firsr step, I suppose. I've heard of CBD oil doing really good things. Hopefully these are first steps to getting it rescheduled. The fact that it's still listed as schedule I is an abomination.

That's why big pharm wants to keep it illegal.

Sucks because they only test for waste products fromTHC not THC which is why you will pop even if you aren’t currently using
