I've been searching for a good all purpose 223 round. When I say all purpose I am referring to self defense, coyotes, and hogs. The two rounds I have sort of settled on are Speer Gold Dot 62gr and the Fusion 62gr. The Gold Dots can be had for about 1/2 the price of the Fusions. Anyone have any experience with these or any other suggestions?

If it matters my AR is a 18" 223 Wylde 1:8. I know 223 isn't the best round for a hog, but until I build a 300BO or a 6.5 it's what I have.

I have shot some 150lb hogs with the fusion and dropped hogs in their tracks

It's a good round....shot placement is always the answer.

Gold dots should be just fine for what you're doing. The price gap makes it a far easier choice.
