What makes for a good lifter?
Posted on 4/24/18 at 9:22 am to AlxTgr
i realize this is a thread about the free x metcons but ill add this anyways. so ive had a pair of nike free's for a while and finally decided to get me a pair of dedicated lifting shoes. i went with the metcon 4's and had my first squat day with them this morning and was very surprised at the difference it made. if anybody is on the fence about purchasing some good purely lifting shoes...do it.

Any opinions on how they feel running? I have the first metcons and they're pretty terrible to do anything besides lifting.

get yourself and actual lifter......they make a ton of difference. I would never use them for years.

Update- I finally got these and put them to use a few days. I’m a big fan. Disclaimer- if I’m doing sets of squats/oly lifts I use my lifting shoes.
I use these for everything else, including any workouts involving the above lifts. I’ve always used nanos, and I think these are a lot better. They’re just as good for running/jumping but a lot more support I feel for lifts

which nanos did you have? im inbetween these and the nano 8 flexweave. have been in metcon's since they came out. the old reeboks were shite IMO. but ive read a ton of good reviews on the new nano's

I just got my pair in the mail a few days ago. I got the white w/ neon back. I haven’t ran in them yet but are a comfortable shoe to wear around the gym. Will report back once I Run in them

Bought the Nano 8’s tonight. I’ll report back in this thread on these as well. I solely use them from Crossfit WODS. I have lifters for oly stuff

I just got them and I think they are really awesome for everything but heavy squats or deads. I really liked them on when I used them on a volume day. By heavy, I mean anything over 315. When I go heavy I will not use these.

This youtube reviewer, who liked the 40, said this shoe over the 40. Sure wish I could find these in stores. Cannot stand lifting in runners, and my feet kill me if I run in my Inov-8s.

So these are actually in a store in my town. While I don't like Nike, I hate to take a chance on the New Balance since I'd have to order those. Would be so nice to have one shoe do it all.

Found them at Academy. Warning-no display shoe, and they were randomly mixed in with a bunch of other Nike models. Anyway, these are what I have been looking for. They are basically perfect. I could use a little more width in the upper parts, but the width at the bottom is fine even for my wide foot. Not squishy like runners, and not a piece of plywood like trainers. I have not done heavy squats in them yet, but from doing deadlifts and thrusters just now, I don't see it being an issue at all.

nano8's are the best shoes i've owned to date. ive owned all the metcon's except the free x, no bull, innov8, previous nano's. solid heel for moderate lifting. tons of flexibility in the forefoot. toe box is not as big as the previous models. running in them surprised me as well. i've done several 800's in a single WOD with cleans at 155 and the shoe did better than i thought it would. it definitely has a sock like feel. very happy with my purchase.

Thinking bout swinging for some
Right now I lift in some old Brooks running shoes, but feel like I should switch to something without so much roll to them
