Texas does a corn on the cob boil and throws a few crawfish in for good measure

Apparently HEB customers are all about corn NOLA.COM
#1: The pot
I was told that everything is bigger in Texas. Apparently that doesn't apply to pots. Look at that tiny thing. And the man says he's boiling 300 pounds of crawfish.
Unless he's got 50 of those little pots, he'll be boiling batches all night to get through 300 pounds.
This one cracks me up!
#2: What's that in your hand?
When the crawfish hits the tables, all the Texans pounce with their tongs to grab those mudbugs as fast as they can. And I get that. Clearly, there isn't enough to go around.
Wait a minute. Back up. Tongs? Tongs?!? Why do they all have tongs?
CORN!!!!
#4: So much corn
Texans may have some strange ideas about a crawfish boil, but they're no fools. No one is diving in with their tongs to grab all that corn.
That looks like a one-to-one ratio of crawfish to corn.

The greatest was one night, we were at the Ragin Cajun (NOT my idea) and this table next to us, four older adults, order 2 lbs of "crawdads".
When it comes, one of the lady reaches into her purse, and pulls out four lobster bibs and four sets of plastic gloves, they all put on and start eating.

Here’s the thing though, it’s actually genius. We’ve done crawfish boils in the Midwest and after the first one we learned this lesson. The tables were wiped clean of all the corn, mushrooms, sausage, potatoes but still crawfish on the table.
When they don’t know how to peel them it takes time and effort to get through a decent amount of crawfish, whereas they can just grab the corn and eat. And because it’s easier, they then filled themselves up on the sides and don’t really want to peel anymore.
But it’s actually great, because the sides are a hell of a lot cheaper than crawfish so we just doubled up sides and removed crawfish per batch in all future batches

Yeah I don't really see the issue here? I like the sides too, sure the crawfish are my favorite part but I wouldn't pass up a meal of 8-10 crawfish and a bunch of sides either.
As said, a lot of people just really hate to peal shite. My grandparents basically refuse to eat any shellfish or crabs that are not ready to eat.

I can understand blue crab. I loathe trying to get meat out of those things. But then again, i grew up more in the country than around the coast, so blue crab wasn't ever a thing growing up. Same with shrimp, for that matter.

I like seafood and shellfish; but crawfish are incredibly overrated.

Went to a crawfish boil for work last week down in LaPorte. Some outfit from the Beaumont area boiled 2500#, in plain water and sprinkled the seasoning on after. Needless to say I didn’t eat any

Have a gander at HEB’s financial statements and see who gets the last laugh.

I had a Honduran housekeeper who said she wouldn’t eat grits because it was something they were ashamed of doing. She associated the grits with hog slop and said she wouldn’t eat’em.
