The private industry has failed us on this issue. Life and death plus profit motive is clearly a poor match for any thinking person.

America spends more per capita in GOVERNMENT dollars on healthcare than every nation but norway.

Something like 40% of Americans are on a publically funded insurance plan.

The insurance industry itself is one of the most regulated of any industry in the nation, and the AMA is essentially a government-protected cartel that restricts the supply of doctors.

We do not have free market healthcare. Saying so is to ignore basic facts about our system.

Furthermore, health insurance profits are not even top 25 of most profitable industries in America.
