Runaway is a total misnomer.

They never run, they're usually parked at friends puffing the bubonic chronic.

Do her parents think she’s more likely to return now that they’ve let everyone know her real weight?

Think like a parent here. You wake up 1st thing this AM and your 16 year old daughter is gone. You check the video and she left at 1:30 in the morning. If you're a half decent parent and she's only 16, you want her found pretty fast.

Should check the local Sonic and see who met her there.

Hopefully she is found and returned soon. I can’t imagine what her family is going through right now.

I at least wait 24 hours before launching an amber alert.

I think what we don't know is critical, i.e. the character of the daughter and the character of her friends. Certainly they've talked to her best friends and what they have to say is critical too. I can only assume that they have good reasons for putting out the alert this quickly.

What about the character of the parents?

They could be loons and the reason why she snuck out.

I've known and still know some overbearing parents like that.

Broke up with a girl because she was 26 with a 10 pm curfew.

Her dad reads this board. Let’s keep the typical OT responses to a minimum please.
