What I find amusing is that, in the big - and I mean BIG - scheme of things, we've barely scratched the surface of understanding the universe.

Yet there are scientists who are naive and arrogant enough to say things like "that shouldn't be possible."

I think what they mean when they say that is that it contradicts the general theory of how they believe the universe works.

It was previously believed that dark matter held the galaxies together. Now that they found one with very little dark matter, that previous theory needs to be reworked.

It absolutely blows my mind at how big the universe is. There are over 200 billion galaxies. Each with billions of stars and trillions of planets.

Add to that the fact that Andromeda (the closest galaxy to us) is still 2.5 million light years from the Milky Way

WTF. It really makes you feel small.

Yeah, I get that. I'm probably reading too much into what he said.

I guess if it were me, I'd probably say something like "this goes against everything we believed to this point" or something similar.

I'm just nit-picking the semantics.

Yep and those are the retards that think some old fart in the sky built this universe for us humans and more specifically for the United States of America.

Dark matter has been given up on by the leading researchers. The cutting edge theories these days are based on concepts that ignore time and realize there is no such thing as mass. The universe is comprised only of energy with varying properties like frequencies, intensity and dimensional presence and the complete understanding that all points in space and time are connected.

Quite the coincidence. Neurosurgeons just found the first and only known president without gray matter.

I know you christians think that god chose USA as his country and the Americans are his chosen people. You christians make it abundantly clear to us that this is gods country.

So, if dark matter is invisible, and no one has ever seen it, or for that matter, measured it (since it's a theory) how can they know with certainty that it's gone? Better check to see if their federal Grant is about to expire. Yes? Okay... now I understand.

The discovery could revise or even upend theories of how galaxies are formed, they reported in the journal Nature.

I'm not anti science, but as a Christian, I'm amazed at how many non believers pretend that science has all the answers, yet, it's in a constant state of flux.

Here’s a better article on it, the one in the OP wasn’t written very well.

There are quite a few passages in the Bible about the damned being cast into outer darkness. I've always wondered what that means?

Science is a process and being in a constant state of flux is a feature not a defect.

I never claimed it was a defect. All I'm am saying is that no one can claim to have all the answers when today's truth is tomorrow's untruth.

I’m not sure any claim to have all of the answers and if they do it’s in error, the best we can achieve is to say current understanding fits observations. When that ceases to be the case then our models need to change.
