I live in NOLA and recently accepted a job in Baton Rouge. Initially, I thought I could make the commute every day; however, the commute has been more challenging than I initially anticipated. It would be nice if I could ride-share with an additional person and take turns driving so that I wouldn't have to make both 90 minute commutes every single day.

If there's anyone on this board who lives in NOLA but commutes to BR on a daily basis, and wishes to share driving duties with someone else, please let me know!

Give it a month or so, you'll get used to it and your brain will basically turn off for the drive. I made that commute for almost two years.

I had a buddy that commuted from BR to Metairie for 5 years. Must be brutal.

I made that commute for a year. I highly recommend.
-Move
-Find another job
-Work 4x10 hour days if you can
-Get a book on tape
-Language learning program
-Find good podcasts
-Etc.

Doing that commute for a year wore on me. I hated everything...
Mainly because I hated the boss I worked directly for. The owner and job itself we good but my boss was one of my least favorite people I’ve ever met.

What I’m saying is, the job better be worth it.

If the job is really worth it, maybe you should plan a move to BR. I would lose my mind if I had to drive from N.O. To B.R. every day.

I don’t really have to commute to BR, but how’s your road head game?

I commute from South BR to Nola. It's really not bad. Part of me actually enjoys it.

ETA: I get to work at 9am and leave at 3:45-4pm. That makes a big difference. If I had to work a full 8 hours I don't think it would be manageable.

You can ride with me tomorrow. Be outside at the road at 5am tomorrow.

Made that drive for a year when I worked at LSU. The mornings were never bad. I usually left by 5:30 and was at work by around 6:45. Left BR around 4pm and was usually home by around 5:30-5:45.

The only part that was bad about the drive was traffic in BR. Also, prepare for a 90 minute commute to turn into a possible 2.5-3 hour commute on holiday weekends
