Eric Reid says he doesn't plan to protest during anthem, will take 'different approach'

Reid says he is not planning to protest during the national anthem this upcoming season.
Reid has been among the NFL's most visible protesters since former San Francisco 49ers teammate Colin Kaepernick decided not to stand for the national anthem in 2016.
While Kaepernick was unable to find a job last season, Reid continued the protest of racial injustice and police brutality against minorities by kneeling during the anthem. But Reid said he would take a different approach in 2018.
More than a week into free agency, Reid has not received any contract offers despite a record of strong play on the field and versatility that many teams usually covet

I don't think it will be in the form of protesting during the anthem. I say 'during' because it's crazy that the narrative changed to we were 'protesting the anthem,' and that wasn't the case.
Eric, people have been telling you this from the very beginning. It's funny that you chose to consistently ignore them when you were employed, but all of a sudden hear what they're saying when you're unemployed.

How stupid is this guy? Complains that people say he is protesting the national anthem when he refuses to stand for the national anthem. These guys need to just go away

Well...he told people what he was doing and they didn't care. Trump's Republican Army came in and muddied the water by throwing out the red herring and saying it was about veterans.
Yes. It really is sad that he has to bow down to the idiots just so he can get a paycheck.

If it truly was just about the message and not about the flag/anthem, he would've changed his method of protest long before he was unemployed, when it first became abundantly clear his message was being misinterpreted.

Sounds like he doesn't have much conviction in his methods if he's willing to capitulate ths easily.
For as misguided as he is, at least kaepernick has consistently stood by his beliefs and continued his fight, and deserves at least some respect for that.
Eric Reid just proved he is nothing but a poser and a sellout.

Why is it so difficult for you people to comprehend that protesting the National Anthem and protesting DURING the National Anthem are two completely different and unrelated things?

I actually agree with you. I knew him at LSU and Eric is a relatively quiet, intelligent, normal guy. Protesting is about bringing awareness to something that isn’t getting attention. Guess what? He and Colin DEFINITELY accomplished that
But just like anything in our culture, it was politicized and twisted to mean something it wasn’t. And he’s been demonized. The problem is we live in a reactionary culture that doesn’t know how to go deeper than one layer.
I know I know “go to the political board” well here’s a video to liven it up a bit...

I'd bet if you went and asked a group of random people what Eric Reid and Colin kaepernick were protesting by kneeling during the national anthem, more than half would say the national anthem/flag.
So you're sure they were successful in bringing awareness?

I like Eric Reid, but I think it was because of Kap's more extreme comments when he started kneeling. Everyone who kneeled later were saddled with his stance and statements.

Look I’m not getting into this because this isn’t the poli board and I’m sick of this topic as much as the next person
But I’ll say that the people that think it was about the flag prove my point about reactionary culture because they got caught up in the politicization of their protest. It was about police brutality and how minorities feel underprivileged. Whether you agree with their stance is irrelevant, people can do/think/believe whatever the hell they want, it’s America. It wasn’t about the flag (albeit kneeling during the anthem was risky) but it was perceived that way because people saw kneeling during the anthem and then made a split second decision it’s wrong and blocked out all reasoning to why he was doing it (reactionary). It was politicized that way so that if you agreed with the kneeling you were labeled as a person that hated America. It’s the exact same play the libs use for Trump voters, “if you voted for Trump you’re a bigoted, racist, sexist, homophobe.”
They did accomplish their goal because they have gotten a ton of attention and even a year later it’s still a hot topic of discussion.
That’s my point.
