Torchy's is a must stop, imo.

Curras for brunch
Terry blacks bbq
Ranch 616 for dinner

Lambert's was the worst dining experience I have had in years. No one should ever go there. The food was awful. The service was worse.

On my recent trip to Austin everyone told me to not waste my time going to Franklin's. At noon I said screw it and went. Waited in line for 45 minutes and then had the best brisket I have ever had in my life. Glad I didnt listen to everyone else

That's awesome, but it's definitely the exception, not the rule.

Aaron Franklin makes incredible BBQ, but to wait in line for over 3 hours only to THEN be told that they are out of food sucks.

My old job used to cater Franklin's for our meetings and it was delicious, but it annoys me that they could probably produce more food but they don't because it's a bit of a "status symbol" to run out.

It's not impressive to run out of food. It's annoying.

Graj Mahal on Rainey St is the best Indian food in the city. If you like Indian food.

BBQ fix is at La BBQ. Place your order online a week ahead of time and skip the line. Just not worth waiting around when incredible bbq is everywhere here.

Fine dinning on a budget, go to Jefferys at happy hour. In and out, 6-8 dishes and cocktails for $100 before tip.

Pint house pizza for good pizza and beer.

If on Rainey go to bangers for pretty solid food.

Batch craft beer and kolaches for a pint or coffee and kolaches for breakfast.

Black sheep lodge is a solid spot.

Green Mesquite for smoked wings only. Awesome wings.

I love torchys just as much as the next guy, but it’s not a place I would tell you to come in Austin. Skip mighty cone too.

Garage bar for cocktails.

Hops and grain for the best brewery in Texas.

I think it’s great

Then take a quick walk over to the blackheart for some good live music.

The Blackheart is closing! I think it has like 2 weeks left. It's a bummer, I have such a soft spot for that place.

I would guess it's due to sky-rocketing rent, but I'm not sure. My buddy Andrew worked there for a long time but got out and went to Justine's fairly recently...I'm not sure if he saw the writing on the wall or what.

Mrs. Glass seemed to play most times I was there, and also at the White Horse (OP, go to the White Horse! It's an old school Honky Tonk with whiskey on tap and an amazing taco truck out back).

Although I have visited Austin 4 times, each time for a week, I'm unable to produce a mac and cheese ranking

I lived there for 11 years so I was able to do a detailed, in-depth study. It was very scientific.

Lavaca st is a younger crowd. Cool bar, but the food sucks. Pluckers and in and out burger right there. Stop in the broken spoke and drink a lonestar. The grove in westlake isn’t far. Black sheep for white trash wednesdays. Stop at planet k and look at the bongs and browse the smut,, if you are feeling dangerous pick up some salvia. Gibson and baker st bars are ok, but just ok. Saxon pub for live music

These are actual recommendations for so Lamar area. Not a troll
