Record colds meeting spring heat will produce a ton of tornadoes this year.

45 Years Ago: Georgia National Guard Responds To 1973 Winter Storms

quote:

ATLANTA - With brutally cold temperatures impacting the east coast and with fresh memories of the snowfall accumulation that covered North Georgia in December, winter weather has been foremost in many minds. Georgia Guardsmen were alerted to the possibility of response missions last week, and while the order to respond did not materialize units across the state were prepared to assist the citizens of Georgia as they have during previous emergencies. In this article, the Georgia Guard looks back at one of those emergency responses: the Winter Storms of 1973.

I have a dream about once a month in which I am running from tornadoes until the last one kills me.

So weird.

The rest of your dreams involve you running backwards in a corn field.

That's a trashy list.

I’ll say this, record cold seems to have made pollen season a bitch.

Alas, I'm in earthquake country.
My nightmares are bridge earthquake driving water.

F0 is rare here. Mountains everywhere. Hot springs all over.

It's been a pretty mild year so far, thankfully. Last year we had a "high" severe threat from the NWS in like January.

We're moving into the prime season in the SE now, hope the good fortune holds.

wouldn’t be surprised if Louisiana got one bt 11pm-4am. Fronts are pretty unstable and favorable in my opinion. Like earlier today with that tstorm out of nowhere. I hadn’t heard of thunder like that in quite a while. Just one single bang pretty much.

That only happens when the North Atlantic current changes direction.

Actually for being a southern state, Louisiana does not get too many tornadoes compared with MS, AL, TX, GA, etc...
