Why did moving to the ACC destroy Pitt basketball?

from a perennial top 3 seed including #1 in 09 and 11 to 0-18 in ACC play this year and missing the tournament multiple years
also Kevin Stallings hire did not pay off at all

I wouldnt say moving to the ACC destroyed it. Pitt did a good job of it themselves when they hired Kevin Stallings from Vandy after Dixon left. Every Vandy fan wanted Stallings gone, and Pitt did them a favor.

Jamie Dixon leaving played the biggest part, but I think moving to the ACC hurts Pitt's regional recruiting. In the Big East, they could sell kids on playing against other kids from all over the Northeast.

pitt/cuse/uconn..theyre recruiting has been meh for the last few years...most of the Northeast kids are going to other schools it seems

Had nothing to do with moving to the ACC. Their good coach, Jamie Dixon, got Mark Richt'd. Had a lot of success but an impatient fanbase wanted more. Then it turned out that Kevin Stallings is no basketball version of Kirby Smart.
