Does anyone know why he left CSF to coach at Illinois for a couple of years and then return to CSF?

Illinois was just starting their program and Augie wanted to be there at the beginning to build a program in a bigger conference. Once he got here he realized that there were way too many obstacles to build a consistent winner in the big 10 so he left and went back.

Thanks

His first year was a struggle at Illinois but his second and third years were major successes and then he bolted back to CSF
