The CIA is mad because the NSA knows about all their electronic communications. It makes it difficult for them to conduct business. If the CIA wants to ensure their shite is secret it has to be off the grid.

It's pretty telling that Snowden fled to Russia once the shite hit the fan...just sayin'.

You do understand that if he returned he wouldn’t have been able to raise an affirmative defense that the documents released were in the public interest? People who use this as evidence of some nefarious action by him have zero understanding of the Espionage Act and the limitations it puts on a Defendant. Even Daniel Ellsberg acknowledged this. Snowden would have been silenced by our government and we’d be none the wiser about our government’s actions and lies.

Do you independently assess news reports, or do you just repeat he narrative.

Isn’t it true that our law on the books for treason carries a maximum sentence of death?

Notice how both you glossed over Pompano’s support for due process?

His actual quote: “He should be brought back from Russia and given due process, and I think the proper outcome would be that he would be given a death sentence for having put friends of mine, friends of yours, who served in the military today, at enormous risk, because of the information he stole and then released to foreign powers.”

It so happens that the maximum penalty for treason is the death penalty. His argument is the type of argument made in courtrooms across the nation every day: if convicted then the serious nature of the actions justify maximum penalty.

Are you opposed to this? What law would you prefer that he support?

He should have a trial and be judged by his peers and the gment will not allow it. That will decide if he is really a hero or a traitor. If they can't give him an honest trial they shouldn't claim he is a criminal. I lean more toward Snowden have ulterior motives for doing what he's done.

It's telling of what? That he didn't want to be imprisoned and/or executed?

Let me take it one step further for you, even if he was a Russian Spy acting entirely under the guidance and direction of the Kremlin itself, I would still be grateful that he exposed the information that he did.

If we sent spies to NOKO, and those spies exposed dirty little secrets about the Kims, then I would hope the citizens of NOKO would at least be able to see the benefit in knowing the truth, even if it is a breach of their sovereignty. Worst case, that's what we're dealing with in Snowden.

Can you provide any facts to support the allegation that Snowden put anyone at risk other than the jobs of the lying pukes in our government who feel the need to spy on and collect the personal data of millions of Americans in complete secrecy?

Seriously, you can tell the media in this country is effective at propaganda when people call for the execution of the man who exposed government wrongdoing and not for the punishment of the people in government whose wrongdoing he exposed.

I agree with Pompeo. Snowden is a traitor. Everyone knew NSA was "taping our wires", that was no secret. There had been other responsible whistleblowers in the past (Binney, Drake) who complained about it the right way. They talked, but they didn't reveal a bunch of classified information.

But, no, Snowden decided to turn over 50,000+ top-secret documents to the press and then go hide in RUSSIA. Most of these documents had nothing whatsoever to do with domestic surveillance.

Snowden is a pussy - he couldn't stay in America and face the music. I might have more respect for him if he stayed, but no he goes into hiding in Russia (and claims he ended up there accidentally).

And look at what happened to NSA whistleblowers who followed protocols. Their lives were ruined and there was ZERO discussion by the media or Congress about NSA reform. Research what happened to Binney and Drake for merely inquiring about reforms to various NSA programs.

If Snowden had returned to the United States, you wouldn’t know who he was. The media was forced to cover his story precisely because he wasn’t in a prison cell and because Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras and Barton Gellman were given access to his information. And tough guy, when have you ever given up your family, your freedom and your security to inform your fellow citizens of wrongdoing by a third-party?

No. I have no access to these facts. I was merely commenting about terrible journalism and terrible posting. Mr Pompano is entitled to his opinion, is he not? Describing the source of his opinion in the context of why he made that remark was my reason for posting.
