I've used Instacart a couple times in Chicago and have mixed feelings about it. Think it's fine if you need a few quick items that you might have forgotten for a dinner party, etc., but I would get anxiety about giving your shopper a full list. Its happened to other people I know, but even on small lists, your shopper may not properly alert you about switching brands of certain food, quantity of produce will vary (usually on the lighter side), and items can be forgotten altogether.

That actually might be useful for Costco which is a pain to get to and from for me. And I usually only grab 10 or 15 items every time I go.

So, there's no reason to have a CostCo membership now.

Dont sleep on Google Express. It's delivered from a warehouse so nonperishables only, but theyve got Costco, Whole Foods, Walmart, and others with free 2-3 day delivery over I think $25 (per store).

It wont get you stuff same day nor help with produce and refigerated/frozen stuff but it's great for being free. They even carve out a section on sale items for each store. I loaded up this week on tp, towels, laundry detergent, and other bulky stuff.

Yeah, you have to be pretty flexible.

I've done the WalMart app where you order everything online and pick it up curbside, and while it has overall been an awesome (free!) experience, the Neighborhood WM by my house has stocking issues. I buy brands/sizes for the nutritional values, so I don't always want whatever the associate picks up to replace an item.

Lately I just use the app to built my list so I can see brand, size, etc. and use my phone in the store as my list (you can delete items as you shop) on early Monday mornings when there isn't a soul in the place and it is all freshly stocked.

OK, I went to the Instacart website this morning to check it out. Let's just say I was underwhelmed. A watermelon costs $20.56 and each banana is 21 cents! The pricing is weird - some things are near-normal price and others are sky high.

I doubt we will be using them for Rouse's, maybe for Costco items. They didn't seem out of line.

Thought about using it to get my costco items... but they didn't have the normal 88/12 ground beef available.
