Eh. That’s circular. There’s not really a “need for more teachers.” Principals rountinely get 200-300 apps for teaching positions in the STL area.
A good teacher is probably worth between $80,000-$110,000 depending on subject matter etc.
A bad teacher is worth $30,000.
Oddly enough, the good get paid the same as the bad.
