2.5 to 3 months off in the summer.
Wife is a High School English Teacher. By the school calendar, she gets 2.25 months off for Summer.
However, during that time she has to travel to a week long Conference for Advance Placement. She then has another week of meetings with her entire department mostly scheduled in early July.
She then has to spend the last 2 weeks of her "Summer Vacation" prepping her classroom, buying the supplies she will need to teach the kids, and writing lesson plans. Those are just the requirements she has to meet.
That doesn't include her duties as a cheer coach during the summer. Truth be told, she may get two weeks scattered through those 2 months.

If she “has” to be doing it, it’s part of her Collective Barganining Agreement. If it’s not part of her CBA, she doesn’t “have” to do it.
And we’re back to the difference between good teachers and bad and a lack of pay differential between them.
