I felt like the all the talking over everything that was happening in Casino was lame.
How strong can a story be if you're explaining the entire thing to the audience?
I didn't find the story compelling at all and the characters didn't seem to, idk, complement each other? It just seemed all over the place.
I thought the acting was really good, though.

Goodfellas was the better movie
I like the real life story of Casino better.
I agree with this. The story behind Casino was fantastic, but Goodfellas is the better movie.

not even close ...... Goodfellas is an all time great. Casino was enjoyable and very well made.

I didn't/don't like Casino at all.
LOVE Goodfellas, though. In my top 10.
Maybe I would have liked Casino had I never seen Goodfellas, but it felt like a poor imitation. Like Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction. I know a lot of people love the former, but I couldn't stand it.

Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco LITERALLY did the exact same thing in Goodfellas.
It feels like you're just looking for a reason to hate the film.

But I'll say of the 2, Goodfellas had an awful last 20 minutes or so. Everything was smoothly written and shot and then there is this almost rush to end it. Almost like they were out of catered food and said frick it, edit away.
Agreed. Until I’d purchased goodfellas on blu-ray, I don’t recall ever seeing the end of the movie despite watching it multiple times. Once they got to the final scenes where he’s hosting the party and is about to get busted, I must have mentally checked out.

I liked both, but Goodfellas is better. The scene in Casino where Pesci's character hits Don Tickles' character with the phone was ridiculous. Tickles looked like a feeble old man laying on the ground.

Goodfella's...and it' holds up over time very well.
Casino was not bad...but Goodfella's is a Top 3 "mafia" movie

I don't understand why everyone hates Stone in Casino ... she played the role to the hilt.
Besides, she warned Lefty.

I mean the famous scene of Pesci "you wouldn't exist out here if it wasn't for me!" Sort of tells the story of the film. And then he bangs Stone. And lets her sorry arse cry on his shoulder.
Yeah I didn't understand all of that when I saw it the first time. But I learned about the idea of the "made man" and it made sense why Ace had to just sit there and take it.

Legitimate complaint. They say narration is lazy film-making or to mask bad film-making.
As is well known, the studio wanted the Blade Runner narration because they thought the audience wouldn't get the story as it was shot.

I hated her character. Because she played her so well.
Hated that pimp James Woods too.

Goodfellas was probably the better plot driven movie, but Casino had better acting IMO. It’s close, but I always liked Casino a little more.
Objectively speaking, Goodfellas is the better movie. But I like Casino better as well.

Goodfellas 4.5 stars
Casino 3.5.
Casino is almost a rip off based on how Pesci was portrayed. Still a good movie but too similar to Fellas

Shawshank was narrated.

Goodfellas is one that I'll always stop and watch if it's on. Casino is one that I'll just get an itch to watch every now and then.
