It's basically the channel sizes. The bigger the channel size, the more throughput. Not necessarily always best to choose the most bandwidth though. A smaller channel size will propagate better through walls, giving you more range with your wireless signal. Bigger channel size can limit your wireless range.

sounds like I should see what my ISP promised max is and select some range just above that.
