It’s not imperative, but it is nice when they have a play area for children.

It means I can more easily talk wifey into going
frick that

It is a BREWERY

leave the kids at home

I know it won't be a popular opinion, but people are there to primarily drink. I don't need to be chastised because your 20 cc of liquid dream killer can't handle some colorful language.

Quite a few breweries are kid friendly. They aren’t clubs. Those that aren’t I don’t get to go to as much.

That’s fine, of course. But the question was ‘what do I look for’ in a brewery. It’s a big factor in planning.

yes. Problem is the idiot parents, not the business

Take your kid to a place for adults, but don't be mad when adult things take place

Our answer is keep your kids at home. I'm going to a brewery to drink beer and not be around kids

I'd rather you bring your dog

#1 good beer like you said.
#2 rotating or specialty brews plus a good variety.
#3 atmosphere/space, especially enough room to find a spot at the bar or at a table.
#4 friendly & knowledgeable staff.
#5 reasonable prices.
#6 kid/dog friendly is nice as well.
#7 parking.

Other than #1 the order can be debated.

Other than

I ask this question because I went to a couple of breweries yesterday. Beer was a wash between them but brewery A was packed with a line out the door with zero amenities and seating for 15%while the brewery 1 block away was still pretty happening, had a restaurant and enough room for 80% to be seated and a game room. Hard to describe but it just seemed kinda strange that there were so many more people at the barebones brewery.

People travel thousands of miles to see the local brewery. I don't get it. Come to this town and you want to see a frickin brewery?

Good beer(usually) made by a local business at prices that aren't up charged to bar levels. Not to mention many of them have patios, food trucks, and allow dogs. What's not to like?

outdoor space is a plus, large and frequently rotating tap list so I'm not ordering the same things every time I go, food trucks (also varied frequently), dog friendly.

It's not an unpopular opinion

Kids don't belong at bars. A brewery is a bar.

I mean, I doubt anyone is going to Alaska for beer. I see nothing weird about going to Alaskan Brewing or whatever for an afternoon.
