I have an interview tomorrow for a Rescue Tech position. I know of the company from my medical experience but that's about it. Anyone has any good things to know going into the interview?

Yes. Im in the industry. Airgas is owned by Air Liquide. Air Liquide used to be a great company, but absorbing Airgas triggered serious growing pains. Later this year, Praxair and Linde merge overtake Air Liquide as the largest global gases manufacturer. Its going to make waves in the industry.

just reading the job description, seems like more than your standard hole watch. Seems you will be forming rescue plans and writing the confined space procedures. Might want to brush up on OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 and be able to answer the general questions asked during the interview. Also you want to know what chemicals are being used or produced in the plant in order to write an effective rescue plan and outline the ppe required to be in place. Most of this is done at the plant level, but it is good to know what you might be getting yourself into. We don't do O&G work at my company but we do deal with with onsite vendors who handle confined space and other permits on some customer sites.

They make gases. From air.

The Airgas delivery guy's punctuality is wildly inconsistent.

I know someone who works for them as an OTR semi driver in Houston. He makes bank. He likes the culture of the company- safety conscious, and well maintained equipment.

I worked for them for 6 years. Out on the west coast they had their shite together. Down here it's a circus to say the least. Zero structure, zero management. They are way too top heavy.
The AL acquisition was supposed to catapult them into a league of their own but unfortunately they bit off more than they could chew. Their lack of customer service and inability to produce consistantly is overshadowed by their lowball prices that no one else can beat.
The turnover in the last year since I left has only gotten worse. They claimed to have a way to stay on top but as soon as the Prax/Linde merger is complete they will crumble.
