Who's to determine who is "mentally ill?" Obviously, in the Florida case, the kid has mental issues but it's a slippery slope.

It’s no different than a 72 hour admission on a PCE which is current law and has been forever.
A person can me involuntary admitted into a facility for 72 hours on credible evidence that they are a risk to themselves or others based on the assessment of an MD or other designated official which is usually a coroner if the threat is at a home. The involuntary hold terminated at 72 hours if it doesn’t go before a judge by then.
This is entirely reasonable.

Real issue.
1- It can be abused very easily by police themselves.
2- It can be used by somebody with an axe to grind! That happened under Stalin. ALOT!
