Why the hell is anyone freaking out?

Very slippery slope. Will veterans who show a very mild form of PTSD be declared mentally ill? What about someone who has Cyclothymia (mild form of bipolar)? Or someone who is on depression prescriptions?

Because that's the fricking playbook that has been known for over 30 years dipshite.

First apply it to the mentally ill - then everyone is mentally ill if the take any Rx meds (like everyone) and then you have to get a pass from the government, apply for a waiver.

But anybody taking a beta-blocker, hypertension meds, let alone Prozac or Viagra will be deemed mentally ill.

If you need boner meds, you are mentally ill according to the the upcoming government view because your brain is dysfunctioning and can't get you up.

Because the mentally ill still have Constitutionally protected Rights, and I am not a fan of the Executive Branch doing an end around the Judicial and Legislative Branches to take away a Constitutionally protected right.

obvious cases of mental illness.

How is that determined? Let’s take Depression for one. There are two types: exogenous and endogenous. Exo is reactive, a family member dying, etc. Endo is biological in nature and persists. Endogenous typically causes a much higher incidence of suicidal ideation a, but exogenous can do the same.

Are we to label everyone mentally ill after a traumatic event because they MIGHT do something to hurt themselves or others? Take away their guns for a short while?

Do we even need to delve into paranoia? Those suffering from it will absolutely not seek help because there will be actual concern of losing their rights bolstering their already present concerns.

There is already a stigma to mental illness. This will only serve to strengthen that, and will keep those who need help from seeking it out. So you get two bad things from it.

Less people seek mental health

More unknown mentally ill people with guns.

Read through the entire post, and although there are many quality points within this thread, yours tops the cake.

Everyone should reread it if they have already done so...over and over.

The part about mentally ill people refusinf help oit of fear of losing their defense when they truly have zero intention of harming anyone.

That means those that really help dont get it and we have a worse problem in our hands.

Also, doctors prescribe SSRI's to just about anyone depressed. They over prescribe the medicine when many have no need. Those who need SSRI's actually get BETTER and not worse. It is a physical condition dealing with the body that affects the mind. Ive seen peoole who are truly depressed or "mentally ill" change overnight on some drugs into a new better person.

This is a very very scary slope that leads to tyranny. Trump, I hope understands how narrow of a thread he is placing himself here lately. I was personally forgiving od the DACA deal and also Obamacare Lite, but this shite wont fly.

Fuhrer Trump rolled back a law that kept 750,000+ mentally ill from easily getting firearms. Give you a guess who put it the law in place. Cucks for Trump though don’t dare to admit this was another mistake the Clown in Chief made.

Will veterans who show a very mild form of PTSD amd gettomg a big fat check of three grand a month, yes.

Bipolar with a big fat check then yes. Who knows when they will snap. do you?

Depression with big fat check then yes. EVen if it is for the protection of themselves.

If you are diagnosed and receiving a monetary compensation it is proven you are under care and need to be cared for.

If you will not acknowledge mental illness as a contributor to the situation we just witnessed what is the recourse?

Well it definitely isn’t to further stigmatize them. It may have prevented this one, to take his guns without due process, but you would be potentially, and likely, opening up the possibility of increased incidents due to a larger number of untreated mental illness...with guns because there’s no way to track them if they or their family/friends don’t initiate contact.

What would be your recourse then?
