It's the only time in history that we've used tanks to take down a child molester on American soil that I can remember...if I'm wrong correct me.
The FBI, ATF, the Clintons, Janet Reno, Vince Foster, and many others completely fricked up this situation and all should be held to the fire for what they did. The bottom line is that the ATF was reeling from the funding cuts after Ruby Ridge and were looking for something to get more funds. They could have easily had 3 agents walk up to the door with the sheriff and arrested Koresh.....shite or arrested his arse in town.

Pretty sure they tried with a warrant and ended up with 4 agents killed. People forget to talk about this part. You cannot just shoot at law enforcement. Especially federal agents then refuse to cooperate.

You summed the sentiment up pretty well. I'm sorry but the decision to use military tanks to puncture the walls for the purpose of injecting teargas? That's just fricking stupid. Especially knowing with the Intel they had from inside the compound. There is a good reason that so many of the people involved still to this day support Koresch.
Bottom line the government was still reeling from the Ruby Ridge frick up and they were looking to use Waco as a way to mend their perception.
