As is all firearms, knives, swords, spears, arrows, etc... And who are you to tell me what my legally purchased firearm is to be used for when it falls within the LDWF regulations for caliber?

He said his concern is also for fellow officers.

"Why would we want them outgunned?" he said.

1) I believe they have surplus military equipment, along with those same AR's that you want banned.

2) Having the same weapon does not make them "outgunned"

3) "Outgunned" is pretty subjective. One could argue that having a 300wm with a 16x scope would be "outgunning" someone with an AR and redot

4) I believe this was the actual basis and intent of the Second Amendment, no? Wasn't it for the people to have the ability to defend itself from tyranny, other potential wrong doers, and invasive governments?

If banning murder doesn't stop murder, do you honestly believe that banning a very particular firearm will?

quote:

"I want to make our community and our state safer."

Maybe start by cleaning up the streets and actually prosecuting and imprisoning the criminals?

I leave you with this quote relating to "assault weapons" bans

quote:

Others say that further restrictions on AR-15-style rifles won’t help curb gun violence because handguns are used in the vast majority of gun crimes.

“Little wonder then that a 2004 study commissioned by the Department of Justice found that the federal ban [on assault rifles] didn’t lead to any decrease in gun crime or gun deaths. For starters, rifles, assault or otherwise, are rarely used in gun crime,” Adam Winkler, a constitutional law professor at UCLA Law School, wrote in a 2015 Los Angeles Times op-ed.

Gun crime in the U.S. is “overwhelmingly handgun crime,” he wrote.

Gunmen in other high-profile mass shootings used handguns, including the Charleston church and Fort Lauderdale airport shootings.

Which kinda begs the question, are our police "outgunned" by all these handguns?

Wait till they find out what a .45 Acp,. 357 sig, .357 magnum, 41 mag, 44 mag does to their vests then they'll be complaining about "armor piercing handguns."
