But I'm sure he'd swoon if Malia or Sasha was in attendance. I'm gay, but I'm really tired of the LGBT community talking about its tolerance and love, all the while acting on hate and intolerance.

It's really predictable and tiring.

No doubt. Worked decently well until cable news and social media

lso, the primary reason I am a liberal is because when i see things i truly cannot live with being perpetuated by a political party it is usually the Republicans.
That is fine. I feel the same way with democrats....but please get off your "oh we are so much more dignified" high horse. You guys threw a party in the rose garden after the clinton impeachment failed. You had no issue with him lying to authorities and having an affair in the oval office....how is that not "degrading" the WH?

Tigerdev, your big issue is that you seem to confuse eloquence and slick talk with dignity, grace, and kindness.

A college professor can write the cleanest, most coherent, and most eloquent essay on how evil, nasty, and revolting christian conservatives are, and how they must be exterminated.....it doesn't make it dignified and classy.

It is not "dignity" to accuse your opponent of wanting to put people back in chains, yet Biden said that word for word. It is not dignity to accuse your opponent of giving a woman cancer, yet Obama ran that ad against Romney. It is not dignity to accuse everyone against you of launching a "war on women, blacks, latinos, poor, etc'

I was a child during the Clinton years so cant speak to any parties i helped throw... But i never said i had "no problem" with the affair or the lies. Deeply disappointing. 1. You dont sleep with people working for you in a position of power. 2. He lied.
Clinton would have never survived that scandal in the age of social media and cable news.

And yes, politics on both sides (hell in every country) has always been a nasty business. But what we have seen from Trump is a significant escalation. If this is accepted as normal i cant even imagine what kind of candidates from both parties we will be dealing with in 2024.

Can I ask: why were you so unhappy when Trump was nominated?

Because he is a poor standard-bearer for conservatism. Not only because of his lack of command, but because deep down he is not a conservative. He is a populist who blames the system for the problems of many displaced industrial and hard labor workers.

I would prefer an actual conservative for 8 years to Trump any day of the week.

If the President and his administration cant act with the grace and dignity you are calling for then I think you are asking a lot of regular folks. One of the biggest impacts of Trump's "reign" is the degradation of basic societal expectations. You are asking for dignity and respect of everyone but the group that intentionally takes every opportunity to take the low road from the position of highest visibility in the world.

Seems a bit... Misguided

A few points here:

1) What has Ivanka specifically done to warrant your scorn? Not that I'm sure she gives a damn about the opinion of an irrelevant.

2) Ivanka, much to your disbelief I'm sure, is a liberal leaning independent. She has been a major proponent on women's issues, is an ally of the LGBT community, and likely had a large role in Trump wanting paid family leave.

3) Finally, you'll have to excuse how little weight a liberal's words carry when it comes to dignity and grace, and as you put it: basic societal expectations. Last I checked, conservatives never marched in parades by the thousands screaming, "frick OBAMA" while wearing genitalia hats and spitting on people. Likewise, let me know when conservatives destroy a college campus, or major metropolitan areas, or assault strangers all for the sake of their own deranged political views. Let me know when conservative college professors systematically and routinely discriminate and/or censor their liberal students. You can't. So please, spare everyone here your sanctimonious, self-righteous bullshite about what actions the left deems to be of grace and dignity. We've seen your idea of that. NO THANK YOU.

I dont scorn Ivanka. However, she entered the fray of politics and is fair game. Unfortunately her father is basically a teenager with a twitter account and the nuclear codes. As his surrogate, her own identity is an afterthought. Any protest to her presence is directed at POTUS quite clearly.

As to your point 3 read some of my other posts on the thread.

However, starting around Obama conservatives have shifted to a position of zero negotiation.

As I recall, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid started that trend with ACA. The Repubs wanted and went to the negotiating table with several options for health care reform, and the aforementioned trio collectively crossed their arms, shook their heads, and told the Repubs to get bent. They took the stand of no negotiating, not the Repubs. The difference is, Democrats have been voted out of office routinely since 2010. Guess we see who the American people blame...

You layout a litany of ad hominems, invectives, and nonspecific critique.

For example as was pointed out sarcastically here, you address Trump with insults far more apropos of his predecessor.

You claim you "would prefer an actual conservative for 8 years to Trump." I guess I'd have to ask what Trump has passed that would differentiate him from the unnamed "conservative" you have in mind.

My issues with Trump are his rhetoric, atrocious leadership, and lack of command on any issue that is actually applicable to the job at hand.

No, any protest to her presence is the mark of a petulant, insecure ninny who clearly doesn't realize Ivanka is an ally of the LGBT community. Kenworthy, I'm sure like most gays, is a single-issue voter. If he could think for himself instead of being predictably stupid, he would realize Ivanka is an ally who has the President's ear.

I'm sure she'd be willing to meet with him to actually discuss ideas, but much like Rippon, most gays don't want discourse. They want to be free to hate who they want, but will never engage directly in open discourse. That's not their M.O..

You seem to forget Obama won handily in 2012. Just glossed that over eh?
