Doesn't this kinda destroy the argument that we need armed guards at schools now?
I mean a sheriff's deputy was there and didn't stop anything. Virginia Tech had an entire on campus police department on campus and that didn't stop anything.

Also, the scared sheriff's deputy kinda supports one of the therioes some have been saying about a small % of police---that they are shooting first because they really are afraid. (I do acknowledge that this is a great extrapolation---but I think it's still worth mentioning and hearing the counter argument)

I would like to point out that the cop having training that the teachers will never have is sorta irrelevant.

The cop's failure wasn't based upon his training or lack thereof. It was based upon spine or lack thereof.

You can't train spine. Clearly, many teachers(and many humans in general) have more spine than that dude.

Sounds like the government failed. It also sounds like an endorsement FOR the 2nd amendment.

So let's not have cops at all.

That's the disconnect, a guy with a gun, earning a paycheck for being there with a gun didn't stop them.

Any teachers/administrators that volunteered to undergo arms training and have a weapon available to them would be doing it for another reason, other than a paycheck, for the actual ability to either survive themselves, or protect others.

Those motives are vastly different, and ultimately that's what's going to drive that individuals actions

If a “good guy” has a gun and fails to act then he is not a “good guy with a gun.” He is a coward with a gun.
