Las Colinas is a nice place to work, but every time I see apartments there I wonder who the hell would ever decide to live there. There is nothing in that area aside from fast food and offices.
I am guessing you haven't been around the convention center lately... There's quite a bit there now in terms of restaurants and entertainment...

Is there something for people to do who are under the age of 30? Because I don't know one person who has ever suggested driving the 10 miles to go out in Las Colinas.

I live in Las Colinas and love it because it's quiet and about 5 minutes from where I work. I just moved here two weeks ago but everytime I want to go out I just take the Dart to DallAs.

Thirsty Lion Gastropub (Went here for Valentines Day, fricking nice)
Bar Louie
Freshii
Boi Na Braza
Yard House
Pretty good bands come to the Music Factory now.
Music Events upcoming
edit: This is the Lake Carolyn area not on the other side of 114 Las Colinas.
Also a mile up the road is The Keg , Blue Fish, and The Ranch @ Las Colinas.
I wished I bought here work and play is all within a 5 minute drive lol.

Yeah, this is understandable. My roommate works there and just drives, but traffic home for him is a bitch apparently. We live in lower greenville so I mean traffic is kind of a bitch everywhere during peak hours, but at least we can walk to a 100 restaurants and bars.

Actual Irving or Las Colinas? Because Las Colinas is on the come up like BIG TIME.
I've never seen anyone be as big a proponent of suburbs as you are (not just this thread either)
To each their own

Is that code for Frisco?
LOL no, well possibly, not as bad as a small population north of 635 near Las Colinas. I call it little India. My employee damn near brings them in by the dozen for cheap coding and there's also Cisco in the other building. They can't drive for shite and my GF apartment complex is damn near 80% Indian.

The TV show, Dallas, did not depict life in Dallas during the 80's. Maybe Ft. Wort, but more like Houston. Houston has always been the more fun place to visit, and party in. Dallas is the better place to live, and work.
You have to be on your best behavior in Dallas. People you meet while out at a bar, may be future customers, or employers. Dallas is more Bible Belt than Houston.

Because I don't see the point in living in a closet to be hip and cool. DFW road infrastructure allows me to be damn near anywhere in 20~30 min.

Used to go out to the Balloon Festival every year, before there was anything else up there. No better view of South Fork than from a balloon!

Born and raised in central-west houston. Lived in heights and montrose 2007-2016. Moved to dallas proper two years ago, and stay in my bubble of uptown, knox, deep ellum, greenville, never venturing out past 635
Here's my take:
It's all basically the same.
The two stereotypes of each hold some water, but not a whole lot. Houston is definitely more laid back and has a more diverse, vibrant culture. Dallas does have more pretentiousness, but I think it's a bit overblown. Downtown houston is WAY more developed and fun that downtown Dallas. Deep Ellum is one of the coolest neighborhoods in America, so Dallas that going for it. The music scene in Dallas is better. Houston food scene is better (not debatable IMO).
I do like that each neighborhood of Dallas proper is walkable, once there. But you obviously can't walk from one neighborhood to the next.
Love Field is the GOAT.
A suburb is a suburb, so the rest is moot. Dallas needs a rail going out to ATT / Rangers stadium ASAP.
Rodeo cookoff this weekend is one of the best weekends in Houston. I would vote St Pat's parade for Dallas' weekend.

I've lived in both and I am by far the smartest, most well informed person in this thread. I make MORE than OT baller money. I also have incredible, impeccable and down-right distinguished critical thinking abilities that put me in a unique situation to be the foremost expert on this topic. I have without a doubt the only true answer to this question but I refuse to share it with you fcking plebs.
Am I doing this right?
