Seriously, we can't get guns out of the hands of those who aren't supposed to have guns. How in the hell is it going to help to get guns out of the hands of those allowed to have them. The perpetrator in this shooting should not have passed the background check, so he would have not owned them legally if the responsible officials would have done their jobs correctly.

He had a history of deputies being called out t his home 39 times, purposely cutting himself, expelled from school and tole he could not come on campus with back pack, his history on social media, all of which would have come into an FBI check.

I agree he shouldn't have had a gun for those reasons. The problem, though, is Cops coming to your house is not the same thing as a conviction in a court. Who makes the decision that this or that incident when Cops were called should go into a background check database?
It's not as easy as you're making it. The problem is WHO DECIDES who is crazy, especially when there's been no convictions in a court? If we're going this route of putting people on lists who have no criminal records (even though they "act weird"), then we're getting into very delicate territory.
Again, this guy was obviously crazy, but who makes that decision before the fact? That's the problem here. I am not against such "databases" in theory, but it needs to be done in accordance with the 4th.

There are some timeline issues here as well. The killer was expelled from school for unspecified actions some time last year. He bought the gun in February last year. So, the teacher who wanted him banned from campus with a backpack (and obviously thought he was dangerous) and the social media post, came after he bought the gun.
So really, we are down to the mental health people dropping the ball if they thought he was a danger, and the FBI not doing their job when a potentially dangerous person was reported to them, and not even giving enough of a shite to alert local LE that there was a potentially dangerous person that they had failed to identify.

I don't think we know that yet, or if it is the case at all. We know he had been seeing mental health professionals, but that may have been due to the loss of his family/mother. We know he was expelled from school, but not why.
If he bought the gun last February, that could have very well preceded any serious mental health concerns.
That does not excuse the FBI doing a less than half assed job of investigating a report of a possibly dangerous person, who posted a desire to be a professional school shooter on social media.

Why do you say that?
Anything that causes a person to fail a NICS run is something that has been adjudicated, hence due process.
A NICS denial beyond anything officially adjudicated leads to mayhem and is ripe for exploitation.
Would you want to fail a NICS run because your a-hole neighbor or crazy ex called in some bullshite on you?

Even if the guns were removed, we will still have a bunch of twisted kids that want to kill other kids.
Maybe we should figure out how these kids are getting this broken and fix that.

This is the real issue and no one is discussing it! The reason why is it is more difficult/costly to do than to ban all “mean looking” rifles that account for ~2% to 4% of all gun related deaths.

Well of course they are. They have an agenda, and all facts are secondary to the agenda. They wouldn't be liberals if that weren't true.
Now, depending on the timeline, had he been seeing mental health professionals before the gun purchase in February, there possibly should have been something in his file. Others have said that whatever the case, some judgement against him would have been required for that to happen. I don't know, but that seems to jive with due process.
I think that if any progress can be made in keeping weapons out of the hands of dangerous people, this is where it is. I don't see the desire from the health profession to declare people dangerous, and seek judgement against them.
