So the fans are turning on the best arm on the LSU staff after one game?
Doesn't equal

Hess ran his mouth let him back it up
Chill out and stop trying to push a false narrative. Hess did run his mouth. Because of That, he needs to back it up. So far, he has not. We will see what happens in his next few outings

One game...ONE. Relax man. Not everybody is a beta like you apparently are. The kid expects to be great. He will work his way to being great.
If he would have said anything like that last year you would have been drooling over his every word. You expect him to say, "Ahh, we will probably suck." You want your best pitcher to have the attitude he has. You think Lange was a quiet little bitch?

quote:Oh so an out of conference loss has 0 impact on if LSU were to finish as a higher seed later in the year......
Yes I do know. A loss to ND game two of the season will have zero...and I mean absolutely ZERO..impact on LSU when it comes to post season play.
quote:Could it? Yes... every loss is important and Hess should not have been in the game since he was struggling. To say losses don't matter is completely foolish to me. Yes LSU is figuring itself out right now but a loss is a loss and it could hurt perception later on for seeding.
Do you remember midweek losses last season that included McNeese and UNO? Did that stop LSU from being a national seed?

Pitch count or not - you pull a pitcher when he doesn’t have his stuff and is getting hammered by an ACC bottom dweller in ND.
Not in February you don't

Actually you have no idea if it will, at the end of the season could the committee pick a team over LSU with a slightly better record?
Actually I do, and if LSU takes care of business in SEC play, they could get swept early in the season and it won't matter. We lost 5 midweek games last year, still earned a national seed because we went 21-9 in the SEC. this board goes through this every year, yet people continue to hang on every game. This isn't football. A bad series in February simply does not matter

Actually, you don't. If you don't recognize that Mainieri is managing differently this weekend than he will later in the year you just don't get it.

I guess you might as well have left him in for two more innings then dumbass. Since it is all part of the plan.

so i guess virtually every coach in college baseball history makes wrong decisions then.

You're just wrong.... period.
Every year we go through this same old song and dance and every year Paul proves that he knows what he is doing. Its better to lose now than to lose in April. So you do your learning and you go through your discovery phase early. That way there are no new surprises come April. Everyone has had their chance and everyone is in the right spot.
We may very well miss the post season entirely. Its surely going to happen at some point in the future and it might be this year. I highly doubt it but it could happen.
If that does happen we wont be sitting at home because of the notre dame series. We'll be sitting at home because we sucked it up in SEC play

I would like to point everyone to post 6 of this thread. Was pretty damn close.

If Stortz & Labas turn out to be the beast Pawl thinks they are then maybe Hess can go back to his closer roll.

Or, you know, maybe keep your best pitcher starting and have Hess, Stortz, Labas if they are so good.
