Should be in it.
But won’t.
How some of you all agree with this is baffling.

Stats look good and appears to be hot bat, but judging baseball stats on just 11 games is pretty flawed.

He's probably the 4th OF, the back up 1st baseman, and backup DH. He will get his opportunities. I would also like to see him as an everyday starter, but it's hard to argue with the guys that are ahead of him at the positions he plays.
If he could play a high level of defense at 2nd base, he'd be starting there. But to this point it doesn't seem like the staff feels like that's a possibility given that he's not even been tried at 2nd base yet.

PM usually defers to someone like Beau Jordan at DH opening night.
With Webre being a lefty he will get a lot of at bats at DH over Jordan starting as early as Sat especially with Jordan's struggles with those pitches away from a righty.
I look for Webre to start Sat and if he continues to hit like that he will start.
SEC play is a whole different story. You don't know what he will do in SEC play.

The staff has talked about how they want to find him a role, but we all know the emphasis PM puts on defense. There's no doubt in my mind you'll see him get a start at DH at some point this weekend.

Well all we know so far is that he hit .435 against SEC pitching so far.

He's a freshman with zero college ABs.
At this time last year Zach Watson was our 5th possibly 6th OF behind Beau J. and Breaux. He did nothing special in the fall or winter practices. He was 5'9 and 150 wet and a HS SS with almost zero OF experience. He got hot early as Beau and Breaux struggled and played too well in CF to be moved. Now he's a preseason AA and a possible 1st rounder if he can just slightly improve on his numbers.
And just 2 years ago, everyone and their momma was talking about Trey Dawson as our answer at SS to replace Bregman. He started 0-11 with 9 Ks (or close to it) and was never heard from since.
But yeah... "baffling".

You know what it takes to win a lot better than they do.

Don’t worry. CPM will tinker with the lineup until he finds the right group in the right positions in the right batting order to make a run in May. This has been the MO for CPM since he got to LSU. I think after 11 years of doing it we can all just sit back and enjoy for now.

If any of you have noticed the trend for LSU baseball since
PM has gotten here, by the end of the season the best 9 hitters will be the starters. Every year there are 2-3 changes in the lineup from the start, Watson, Coombs, Jordan last year. Some of these moves are obvious from the start and other times players start hot, then go in the tank or vice versa. And in the case of Pap the last 2 years, he lost his spot, then came on strong and got it back.

Who on the rant is saying he shouldn’t be worked into the lineup?

He likes to make a habit of tilting at windmills. He won't come back with specific examples.

Until you turn the lights on for real you don't know how fr are gonna handle the spotlight.
Who was the opening day SS that couldn't hit at all two years ago. He transferred to JUCO and I think will be at UK this year. Trey Dawson

Patience grasshopper. He is a true freshman. Yes, he has been one of the best hitters in Louisiana since he was 9 years old. He will get his chances.

Can’t wait to see beau swinging out of his shoes at a curveball in the dirt for 1 last season

Two things are for certain with Mainieri; He will err on the side of defense and he will tinker with the lineup at least until SEC play.
He’s not beating out Duplantis, Watson, and Cabrera in the OF. He hasnt shown a great glove at 2B. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play 1B if he’s hitting well with Bryce going to DH. If Beau struggles hitting, Webre will probably slide into the DH role.
Webre will start on Saturday or Sunday. Probably at DH, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at 1B and possibly even at 2B.

Instead of bitching about something you obviously are not getting paid to decide, be thankful we have the talent to struggle with who should start and who shouldn't. Other programs have several starters and fill in the gaps with the best of the rest.

Is Webre your family member or something?
I'm sure his solid numbers in the preseason will earn him some playing time. You have to understand though, Mr. Webre, this is LSU. Your son will not just be given a spot.

I think Webre is from Lafayette.
