Frost originally signed with Stanford - he thought his best chance to make it to the NFL as a QB - and Tom Osborne told him the same - would be to play for Bill Walsh. When things didn't work out there, he transferred to Nebraska prior to his junior season.

Gotya. I googled him because I honestly confuse his days at Nebraska with Eric Crouch. Both similar style of play, both wore #7.

I saw that Stanford picture mixed in and didn't think too much about it because the uniforms are almost identical. Did a double take a noticed the Stanford S and was caught off guard.

I think Frost was frustrated because he wasn’t accustomed to losing often. He won the state championship in the shot put in Nebraska and was a hot commodity as a QB. Just to show the character that Tom Osborne has, he told Frost that his best shot at the NFL would be to go to Stanford under Bill Walsh, since Nebraska was an option team. Stanford sucked pretty bad but Walsh kept in his upper classmen starter and wouldn’t let Frost play much. After they finished 3-7-1 and 4-7 Walsh left Stanford and Frost decided to transfer.
