Andre the Giant ended Hulk Hogan’s title reign on Saturday Night’s Main event with one of the best angles ever, the twin referees. He then “sold” the title to The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase. If you know what I’m talking about, your childhood was awesome

I can only imagine what Bobby Heenan had to say on that.

I fell asleep so many times waiting for that to come on.

Nothing like a million dollar white dude with a black servant.

It does etch dibiase into the title history without him actually winning it, while getting the character way over as a heel it was a great move of course it wouldn’t last

If this is what the OT was raised on, a lot has been explained.

I didn’t realize the DiBiase clan lived in Clinton, MS.

I remember this well. My brothers and I watched because we didn't see WM III match and wanted to see Hogan slam the Giant. That angle was really clever and fun.
It's interesting to see these Hogan matches from that era with the understanding of all the backstage clout he carried in the decision making.
If I remember correctly, Vince wanted Hogan to do a program with Savage and drop the belt but Hogan refused to do a clean job and if they made Savage win in controversial fashion it would hurt Savage's growing popularity with the fans. So Hogan agreed to lose the belt in controversial fashion and then have the belt "held-up" and put in a tournament, so Savage could win it and do a full face turn.
Of course, Hogan had to be directly involved in Savage winning by interfering with the Savage/DiBiase final match and even was the one who got the belt, handed it to Savage and raised his hand. Then they slowly turned Savage heel again so he could cleanly drop the belt back to Hogan at WM V.
It was all cool to see those storylines develop when I was 12, but in retrospect, I can see why so many of the wrestlers from that era didn't like Hogan very much.

They didn't like him because they didn't know what to do when Hulkamania went wild over them.

You need a better thread title so people who are curious about real history dont click on it

I saw the Big Cat Ernie Ladd attempt to body slam Andre The Giant @ the Rapides Parish Coliseum. It was an awesome match. "The Big Cat's" knees buckled as he had "The Giant" chest high....then "The Giant" came crashing down on top of "The Big Cat" 1,2,3 "The Giant" won the match.
I actually got an autograph from JYD @ the Coliseum as well. Good times for a wee kid!

I was there as well. I believe Jerry Usher was the referee. They put on some great shows there.
