The New York Times reported that the conservative Heritage Foundation ranks President Trump as doing even better than conservative icon President Ronald Reagan in the first year of his Presidency – The Trump administration has pursued policies that have hewed remarkably close to the recommendations of a leading conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, which found in a new review that nearly two-thirds of its ideas had been carried out or embraced by the White House over the past year. Not one to dwell on the details of governing, President Trump has shown a considerable degree of deference to groups within the conservative movement like Heritage, leading to a rightward shift in social, environmental, immigration and foreign policy. The results, Heritage found in its review, exceeded even the first year of Ronald Reagan’s presidency, whose tenure has long been the conservative gold standard.”
quote:
Heritage began developing in 2016 a list of 334 policy prescriptions that a new Republican administration could adopt. It included a variety of actions, like reimposing work requirements for welfare recipients, ending the program that shields young immigrants brought here illegally as children, withdrawing from the Paris climate accord and eliminating certain gender identity protections. Heritage said that 64 percent of those items were enacted by the administration either through executive order or another means of enforcement, or included in Mr. Trump’s budget, which has not been voted on by Congress.
quote:
n Reagan’s first year, only 49 percent of Heritage’s wish list items were embraced by the president or enacted. At the time, Heritage identified a familiar problem for why the administration’s policies were wanting.

Trump is a billionaire. Everything he does is on principle. This scares the hell out of everyone

Its true. Great as Reagan was TRUMP is already outpacing him. We're lucky to have him folks!

I really really really hope he lives another 8 years

Incredible how Trump could wind up being more of a conservative philosophical President than Reagan.

So you homos downvoting have nothing to add?

Ronald Reagan inspired confidence in the American way of doing things and Donald Trump does the same.
No other president in between these two leaders even comes close.

I think Reagan got shot 2 months into his first year, so I’d tend to agree trumps was better.

Reagan inherited a seriously fricked up economy of double digit inflation from Carter...

that can't find anyway to spin it so they just down vote it...

If the economy keeps on improving your going to have to change your avatar to TRUMP.

Nothing to spin.
Reagan is America's greatest president.
Trump is a child.
No real comparison.

Reagan had a tough slog in year one . The leadership was there but that economy was rough.

I didn't do the study so frick off.
As per usual, you offer NO evidence to back up your stupid claims.

Reagan walked into a much worse situation than Trump. Interest rates were greater than 10% and there was an oil shortage.
Obama created an environment that businesses did not want to spend money because they were unsure of his policies. The capital was there, just not the incentive. Trump has given those companies the incentive.
Basing Trump's first year versus Reagan is not exactly Apples to Apples. Reagan was also facing a dem controlled HoR. Don't get me wrong, I think Trump has had a great first year, but the situations are totally different.

Rob doesn’t handle the evidence, he handles the claims. You must have him confused with somebody honest.

Trump, Reagan, and Lincoln are definitely the top 3 presidents in this nations history.
Only criticism was that he was weak on trade, but everything else was top notch.

All I have to do is look at the lack of Trump agenda working it's way through congress.
It can be argued, easily, that the economy is as much to do with Obama's policies as Trump's. Hell, Reagan had to recover from the disaster of Jimmy Carter and that was no easy thing.
Try using less emotion.

Well, to be fair, Reagan only had to unfrick 4 years of massive failure and pathetic wretchedness of the Carter administration......
Trump has started unfricking 8 years of massive failure, pathetic wretchedness, along with deliberate attempted destruction of what is good about this country by the jug eared piece of shite Obama....
Carter was incompetent, idealistic and weak. Obama was incompetent, idealistic, weak and evil....
So, it's no surprise that there would be a noticeable contrast in positive achievements vis a vis Trump/Reagan.....
