This 100%. We won't ever have success with a passing game until we learn to accept the fact that interceptions happen when you pass the ball more. The advantage is even when you turn it over, you're able to recover more yardage quicker. I don't have much hope until we clean house of the whole staff on the offensive side and the head coach. Way too many people preaching ball protection above everything (including scoring). We'd rather go 3 and out running up the gut and shank a 30 yd punt, than try to throw it 30 yds for fear of an interception.

Probably not. Orgeron’s decision to kick the field goal at the end of the ND game was telling. He’s lost his aggressiveness and is more concerned with protecting his $3.5 million paycheck than maxing out LSU’s potential. Very similar to how Les operated down the stretch of his career.

Did Nick ever get another down after the fumble?

I agree. It would also help if Ensminger is calling plays from the field vs the booth. That way CEO doesn't have to vent and/or give feedback to the QB and/or offense. Saban mandates that all his coordinators coach from the field for this very reason.

No coordinator in the country has total control of their strategy. It should be challenged or the head coach is derilect in his duty.
Of course, in most situations the HC has some actual experience as a coordinator from which he derives his input into the game plan, but "The Search" didn't concern himself with such minor details when he made the hire.

What's your point, I said I disagreed with his decision.

Unless just about everyone is misreading where our talent lies on offense for 2018, we will live and die at the QB position. We don't have dynamic RBs this year and will likely have a committee approach to the run game. O and SE will have to be willing to accept mistakes at the QB spot as either guy learns and develops.
Can SE put together an offense that allows the QBs to progress without being too conservative or too risky? IDK.
Other questions will be what can Cregg do with the OL to improve pass protection? How quickly do our young talented WRs develop?
The one benefit is I expect Aranda's D to be better than last season as long as the CB opposite Greedy (Surtain?) can come in and play well. This will give our offense an increased margin of error as they get settled.

I also think you should play "to win" but people will scrutinize that decision also.
Had the Saints ran the ball in bounds on 2nd and 3rd down with less than a minute, they can take the clock all the way down, and kick a 45 yd or so FG for the win (or loss, if they miss); and no possession left for Minnesota afterwards.

Go back to class, the fact you're arguing your intelligence shows how immature you are. You're obviously naive/possibly didn't play sports also to think because you have coordinators that a head coach doesn't have the right to meddle in all aspects of the game. All aspects/decisions made will somehow, someway reflect on the head coach, so yes, a head coach will meddle, justified or not.

COACH O HAS THE CHEST. HE IS READY FOR MAGIC. ARE YOU READY TO SEE GREATNESS. WE COMING. ONE TEAM ONE HEARD BEAT. GEAUX TIGS

You made my point, I guess you missed it. No matter what decision you make, someone will scrutinize it.

you have to play to win the game. sometimes that means passing even if you don't "trust" your QB. sometimes that means running the ball and controlling the clock. a coach, nor the fans, ever know which is best until the game is over.
it's part of what makes football a great game. auburn quit passing last year, our defense stiffened and we came back to win. auburn fans blamed their HC for "letting the foot off the gas". and a number of years ago we had a QB (Howard I believe) throw THREE pick 6's in the second half to let auburn win after we had a commanding lead. damn, we should have "let the foot off the gas".
the coach lives and dies by his decision. the fans hate the coach when the decision is wrong and they lose the game but RARELY give the coach credit when the decision turns out right.
example, I do not blame Orgeron kicking the FG in the notre dame game. it gave him the lead and one of the best defenses in college to bring the win home. it didn't work so he was crucified. if it had worked, he would not have been given credit.

Very similar to how I would answer the OPs question. O has no vision for LSU. He doesn't have the mettle to withstand the heat that would come from short-term 'losses' in order to invest for the long term, i.e., positioning us to win championships. Canada did.

All coaches do it and if my $ MM job was at risk and I saw something wrong, I would speak up as well.

while I may have gone for it, the fact is that we would have likely won the game, had the D player not tried to rip the ball off and JUST MADE THE PLAY

Don't know why people can't understand this.
All coaches make demands and suggestions but I don't think very many of them actually will change their OC's offense.
This is what Canada said when he was hired.
quote:
“[Pitt] was a special place with Coach [Pat] Narduzzi. He allowed us the freedom to do our job, and Coach O certainly said that [he would, too].”
Whatever influence Narduzzi had over Canada's offense, it appears to have stopped short of changing his offense like Orgeron did.

Sure until he loses the first game due to turnovers and we are all calling for his head. Do you remember all the picks Jaime Howard threw? That coach got fired? You remember Lee pick 6 us to 8-5? Almost got miles fired 1 year after a NC.
