I can just as easily say “the media’s constant lying has woken America up.” And I believe that’s the case
What are the media’s “approval ratings?” It’s far lower than trumps by the way. So essentially you have trump (one guy) attacking the MSM, and the MSM (hundreds-thousands) attacking trump.
People trust the MSM less, they are just a lot louder coming from so many directions
If you want something supporting my claim check out any poll, and if you want to say “oh now we trust polls” instead check out how many states voted for trump against the MSMs dire wishes (and predictions). America knows the media is as full of shite as they come

No they aren't. Trust in the press has been trending upward as trust in the executive branch has been trending downward. LINK. Meanwhile, the approval rating for Trump specifically (in the 30's) is significantly lower than either.

States don't vote. People do. The geographic spread of people is such that 30 states may have gone for Trump, but we're talking about PEOPLE's attitudes toward Trump and the media, and Americans preferred Trump's opponent to the tune of 3 million more votes.
Trust in the media is trending up. Subscriptions to news papers like the New York Times and Washington Post have increased greatly. Trump's desire to undermine the press is shameful and corrupt, but thankfully, it's also failing miserably.

Way to edit your post after I already responded, but that Gallup poll is from 2016. "Sinclair Media" is a good choice for you though, as it is a great example of media that really is biased and untrustworthy. The other polls listed in that story are from late 2016 or early 2017 as well. Trump's approvals have only eroded since then while subscriptions to the American independent press blue bloods have grown and polling regarding media trustworthiness has held steady or improved.
