1. Florida (11), 143
2. Tennessee (1), 119
3. Texas A&M, 114
4. LSU, 109
5. Alabama (1), 107
6. Auburn, 85
7. Ole Miss, 81
8. Kentucky, 76
9. Georgia, 49
10. Arkansas, 39
11. Missouri, 34
12. South Carolina, 30
13. Mississippi State, 28

SEC could have 5 teams in the top 12

A&M returns essentially everyone but lost their excellent hitting coach to ULL

Tennessee almost everyone returns as well.

SEC will be absolutely stacked this year, wouldn't surprise me to see 4 SEC teams in the CWS.

Team is back at practice and its been a really productive last few months

Top 25 polls will be released later this month, LSU is expected to rank anywhere between 8-14

Just noticed the Bama first place vote

Based on the poll LSU's league schedule is tough. Don't play the bottom 2 teams and play the top 2 teams on the road.

I would really hate Hoover and Walljasper to not get a natty.

I have faith Beth goat Torina can put together another tandem like that, but it won't be too often

Florida and Tennessee on the road will be absolutely brutal.

Our pitching staff will keep us in any matchup

We just need offense to continue to develop and manufacture runs.

LSU's schedule this year is brutal like years past. We always play top 5 SOS's. It does help LSU substantially when it comes to post season play.

Yes. I love that Torina schedules this way. Usually they have one home tournament early with several weak teams, but the rest of the schedule is always very challenging. This helps RPI and gets the team ready for SEC. I've always hated how teams like Auburn and ULL have padded their stats with gaudy numbers playing a bunch of shite teams in non-conference.

LSU doesn't play too many out in the Mary Nutter Classic this year but its a trip that I would highly recommend. Top teams from all across the country play, there are some professional and international teams in it this year. Its absolutely beautiful up there

Some top teams include:

Oregon State
Illinois
UCLA
Oregon
BYU
Baylor
North Dakota State

That is just out of conference, and we played in the most difficult one already. LSU could have easily been over the 50 win mark last year if we played an Auburn/ULL schedule.

If you get a good look at that part of the schedule, you'll see that we are playing in Stockton, CA right before Mary Nutter. Walljasper is from near there and just about every D1 coach I know tries to schedule some games near each player's hometown. Hence the abbreviated schedule for Palm Springs.

Now if you are a softball junkie like I am, the Mary Nutter tournament in Palm Springs is the one to go to. Most times there are 5 games going on at the same time and almost all are between top 50 teams. I would go, but I agreed to coach another year, so that curtails a lot of my softball trips in the spring.

I don't really pay attention to Auburn in OOC play but I think ULL usually does pretty good in those regards. You can knock their conference competition and it will be valid. But I know Robocoach is usually buzzing about one or two of ULL's series each year before conference play.

2017:
They took 2 of 3 against Bama (3 game series)
Played Baylor (1 game during conference play)
Texas A&M (1 game during conference play)

Won the first game against LSU in the BR regional. I realize this isn't a scheduled game.

This season:
Iowa (not sure if they are good or not)
Oregon State (1 game)
Florida (3 game series)
Judi Garman Classic - play Michigan, Iowa, Michigan State, Fresno and Baylor
Florida State (2 games during conference play)

I think they realize they need a good OOC schedule to have a chance to host a regional and super.

I am curious how they do going forward after losing the "human rain delay" as coach. They have been successful with their last two coaches so they may not miss a beat.

It doesn't have anything to do with being a realist. Here is to a drama-free year of softball posting!

I probably should have stated it differently. ULL usually does schedule a series or some midweek games against pretty good teams. Their issue is that the rest of their non-conference games are littered with home games vs. SWAC schools and other below average programs. What they really need to do (which they are doing this year and which they have not done in the past) is go to a big tournament in California or Arizona and play 5 games against good programs. This year they are playing in a California tournament and I think it will help boost their non-conference RPI.

So...what's the deal with Sydney Bourg coming back to the team? Is she eligible to play immediately?

What about that Miami (OH) transfer?

Sorry...haven't kept up with the transfer rules or situations.

Word is that Bourg has to sit out this year and can play one more year next year. Don't ask me to cite which rule dictates that...I think it has something to do with transferring twice in a career.

Schlattman can play this year.

Can't you play immediately if you transfer back to the original school?

I thought that was the rule

I did too...but I was told by a support staff member a couple weeks ago that Bourg couldn't play.
