I just bought a HSS Hybrid harness and will be buying a Summit Viper SD climber. I have never hunted out of a climber or used a harness like this before. What else do I need to look at buying, or will I have everything I need in the packaging?

A different stand. Buy a Treewalker you can thank me later. Everything should come with the harness. Wear it religiously and fromt he time you start climbing til the time you're back on the ground. STAY TIED OFF TO THAT TREE 100% OF THE TIME

summit viper sd is a great stand. I prefer it over the treewalker, i own both.

Edit: i guess that other feller is trolling about the treewalker. I keep it on the tree year round since it's a pain to carry around and pack. I pack the summit in and out with me and feel much safer with the cable lock system over the pins

I've never used a Treewalker so can't speak on that one, but I have a Viper as my current climber and would recommend it. Definitely prefer the Viper over the 1st climber I had from API. I use it with an HSS Treestalker harness.

I've added on:
Side bags to carry gear
Bow holder
Bow / rifle hoist

Things I've added to my Summit Viper:
Thirdhand stabilizer straps
Thirdhand footrest
Hazmore mesh seat
Gun holder
Hazmore back rest

The stabilizer straps are the best of the add ons. The footrest is nice for long sits and works great as a drag. The mesh seat is something I changed after growing frustrated with the regular seat when climbing. However, I believe the regular seat is more comfy. The Hazmore seat makes climbing easier as it doesn't get in the way.
Added the gun holder this year. I love this mod but you have to remove the one closest to the front of the stand for packing. The backrest makes it more comfy but can be an issue climbing. I've also put adhesive grip strips on the platform slats. This is a cheap mod that pays off especially when leaving the stand in the woods over night.

Since this was about your HSS hybrid harness, I've added a beal dynaclip that gives me a little extra length from my HSS tree strap to my harness.

Go to Harbor Freight and buy a 25' dog leash... they are normally $5 but you can find them on sale for $1 in that coupon paper.
Ty-Wrap it to your stand.
Hook the leash on your bow or gun and it will stay on the ground as you climb.
When you get in the tree, pull it up.
It will retract automatically.

I hunted climbers for 30 years and love them. This year I Put up 4 different lockons 22' - 24' up on our property and saw 10 x the deer I'd seen in past years.

Set them for different winds

I fed more also which may have helped, just seems like the noise of the climber scares deer off more than slipping into a lockon.

Just my 2 cents, I use an Ole Man when I climb
