How comparable is this series to the twilight zone?

Is there a lot of SJW overtones in the episodes?

What other series does this compare to?

Ive watched I think 5 episodes mainly from season 1 and 2 and one from season 3. Haven’t really noticed any SJW overtones in the episodes I’ve watched

Haven’t seen twilight and it’s hard to compare this to any other show I’ve seen since every episode is a stand alone

If you like twilight zone, you'd probably like this. Technology based psychological thrillers.

If you watch episode 1 first,..to be honest I tell people to skip episode 1 and come back to it once you have a feel for the series.

I don't get a sjw feel from it.

Lot of hit and miss for me. Although I will say the season 4 opener might be one of the best tv episodes of all time. TZ is easily more ground breaking and has more watchability. No SJW overtones unless you are the kind of person who reads way too much into things.

You're missing out if you haven't watched the twilight zone. Rod Serling was a genius.

WTF is wrong with you snowflakes that you’re afraid of “SJW overtones” in a story? But the answer is no it’s not really political. The basic premise of the shows are typically “Take near future tech X and imagine how it could go wrong.” Although they do have positive episodes too, so sometimes it’s just about fleshing out cool near future tech and putting it on screen for the first time.

Just watch it. It’s not like you are giving up a kidney to do so.

Good advice. Didn't know much about the show, watched episode 1, barely got through it (actually hated it), then swore off the show, it just wasn't my cup of tea. About eight months later, with the praise of the show always showing up on threads on this site, gave the series another chance. Wow! I love it. Really is so well done. Worth the watch.

So it's best to start on ep 2?

I would, and then go back to it as SEClint recommended. I remember some people on this site loved ep 1. To each his own. It just seemed so out of place to the rest of the series, IMO. After watching all the episodes I understand now what they were going for in ep 1. But it was pretty jarring to start with that one.

There is a lesbian episode.

I don't know if that is SJW or not, but I never know how delicate some of you are, so

I started on Ep. 1... didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either and it didn't turn me off to the series.

In my opinion it's most out of place because it's (if I remember right) the least dependent some sort of new technology. That episode could theoretically happen in 2018.

I say no, not at all.

I'm always a fan of watching something in the order it was intended. Now, BM episodes are (for the most part) standalone episodes. So the order isn't super important. But the show definitely evolves a bit IMO.

I would start with S1E1, but just go into it knowing it's one of the weakest of the series and that other episodes will be completely different (and better).

The show is hit or miss with me, but even the misses are pretty enjoyable for the most part. It really is a great show.

Start with season 1, episode 3 to get a good feel for what you’re in store for.

Best to start on episode 2 for sure, if I started on 1 I might not have given it another chance and now I love the show.

Go back to EP 1 after you finish and it's a better episode in the context of the whole series.

I really liked S01 E01. Its not really technology/sci-fi based, but its a very suspenseful episode.

It does keep you intrigued, but my whole issue with it is it doesn't really feel like black mirror. It just seems like a standalone episode of a serial drama you'd see on TV somewhere. It's not a bad little episode, but it's not BM. It doesn't even come remotely close to giving the viewer an accurate portrayal of what the series is all about. That's why I always tell people just start with ep 2 then do whatever you want, if you watch S1E1 right after that then so be it, but people should get started off with at least an episode that gives them a clue on what the show is all about.
